It’s definitely an issue within the Rekordbox software and not the controller, just been onto Pioneer about it and waiting on a call back from them. Hopefully it can be sorted out quickly and addressed fully.

SeguirVocal Pitching/Tempo Issues
With regards to Vocal Pitching/Tempo syncing, I’m having awful issues with it and can’t get it sorted. It’s certainly nothing like Traktor that’s for sure, no problem with syncing vocal pitch ranges via key lock and a bit of adjusting at times. Rekordbox however I just end up with vocals sounding gargled and robottie if I go over as little as +/- 8, kind of ridiculous really and renders Rekordbox useless for mixing.
I've also tried out my new DDJ-RX controller on the new Virtual DJ, I have to say that I’m astonished with the fact that my current issues with Rekordbox do not occur within Virtual DJ either. Bit of a joke really when you consider the amount of money I spent on this controller and it’s flagship software Rekordbox and it doesn't work. Not impressed Pioneer, get it fixed!

@Bazzyboo > What kind of tracks are you running? With most software you're able to get to around 8-10% without serious artifacts, even rekordbox. Beyond that, I would personally use another software to perform the stretching for the best quality.
Is that a serious answers, honestly??? I can't go above +/- 8 and you're telling me to run my newly purchased DDJ-RX that's is specifically designed for Rekordbox on another system, seriously!
No. What he's suggestion is to use a DAW or other program with premium algorithms to apply the stretch, it's fairly common practice. For example, if I have a track around 110 and want to play it at a tempo beyond the 8% threshold, I will load into Ableton (or your DAW of choice) and utilize Complex Pro time-stretching to apply a high-quality tempo adjustment.
Now when you load it into RekordBox, you can stay within that 8% range.
Songs rich in harmonic content/partials are quick to degrade when pushed beyond a certain precentage. On turntables, we get the chipmunk affect. On CDJ's (or other digital media players) we have the option to maintain pitch while adjusting tempo–at the cost of audible degradation.
@lostnthesound - fair enough but my point is that it could be done in my Traktor software without any issue or hassle, even Virtual DJ can manage it with no issue. Surely then it should be possible in Rekordbox and should be in my opinion as this is out to compete with the likes of Traktor & Serato. I do take your point on board though lostnthesound.
I actually find the rekordbox keylock (master tempo) does an adequate job up to 16% with most tracks - some sounds simply don't stretch/compress properly, like a long synth/string sound found in trance.
What is the filetype you're using?
MP3. It's doing it on everything I've loaded into Rekordbox so far, even my acapella collection, none of which I have an issue with in Traktor or Virtual DJ.
So is this issue going to be addressed and bring Rekordbox capabilities up to the likes of Traktor?
Lets take Serato's Pitch 'n Time add-on feature as an example. It's a key lock feature that greatly increases the quality of time stretching within Serato DJ, it lets you speed up or slow down tracks without any noticeable artifacts. It works hand in hand with Serato DJ's key shifting and key sync features which lets you change the musical key of a song or sync it to another track. Traktor has something similar too. Is this a feature/add-on that will be introduced into Rekordbox?
PnT does improve the quality of the time-stretching significantly, similar to how using Ableton Live to warp the track can deliver better quality results, but again, I don't find that the MT algorithm in rekordbox is unusable within a realistic pitch range of 10%.
I don't believe there will be an add-on for higher quality pitch shifting, it would simply be improvements made to the existing software.
Honestly, in my opinion that's a bad move, explain to me then how Rekordbox is/will be better than Traktor, Serato, or even Virtual DJ. Beginning to regret buying the DDJ-RX controller now.
For extreme changes in tempo, Virtual DJ still sounds better (after tweaking the config)
@Yves Smolders - Totally agree with you, absolute joke Pioneer Rekordbox can't do this.
