CDJ-2000nxs - Adjusting pitch: an exact science?

Hey! This may have been asked before, but when I need to play a track and adjust the pitch by a semitone or two up or down, is there an exact method of figuring out a rough tempo adjustment?

E.G. Is it +/- 3BPM's per semitone? Or something like that?
Or does the scale of adjustment required change, making it impossible to have a rough guide?

Right now I have to switch off master tempo on the track I need to adjust, and "play" with the tempo of both CDJs until the key seems about right, but in doing so this has adjust the tempo of the track still playing out loud a fair bit. It would be great if there was a rough "rule of thumb" for how many semi tones an adjustment is worth.

Thanks for any help guys!

The exact science is 6% per semitone. To show an example, A4 is 440.00Hz, and going up +6% to Bb4 (or A#4) gives you 466.16Hz.

There's no magic calculation for pitch-to-BPM changes, as 6% at 80BPM is 84.8BPM but at 130BPM, that same 6% increase will make the track play at 137.8BPM; 3BPM faster for the same pitch.

The pitch is not linked to tempo, Master Tempo is a keylock to keep the same audible pitch while the tempo changes (so really, it's named backwards; Master Tempo is really Master Key!)

I am not an expert but I do know that from playing records that if you start to go over about +/- 2 above or below the next record the keys start to clash a little. As a general rule I always mix tunes within one or two bpm's of the one I am playing, just to keep the flow. I have never tried the CDJ Jog Mode way where the keys stay the same in whatever speed you choose. I still stay true to the vinyl way by selecting Vinyl Jog Mode and playing like I would on vinyl. Just the way I do it.
So, the rough rule of thumb would be, select tracks within 1or 2 bpm's of your track that is playing if you are in Vinyl Jog Mode. I am not sure about CDJ Jog Mode. Maybe someone else has a few ideas on how you would do that. Hope this helps. G

Before I upgraded to Nexus players I played without master tempo and found out that if you pitch about 3% down or up you kind of reach the next key. Not exact, but it worked out quite ok.
