I just did a repair on a DJM800 that got a drink spilled on it.
My question is, does anyone know what happens to the sound on a channel when the color knob is turned but no color effect is selected?
On the one I am working on, with no effect selected when you turn the color knob all the way clockwise the channel gets louder, effect stays off.
Is that normal? Seems like with no effect selected the knob should do nothing.

Nope this is not normal. when no CFX is selected, rotating the parameter knobs on the channels should not have any effect on the audio. If one of the CFX is flashing, the CFX is active and then effects should be heard. CFX should not have effect on the audio volume.
I suggest you bring your deck to an official service center so they can check whats going on.
Mystery solved!
One of the 3 ribbon cables going to the 'Panel 1' board was not in straight at the DSP board side.
