CDJ 900 and external hardrive

Hey, I have a problem using CDJ 900s with my 1tb external hard drive. I'm using the hard drive with a Mac and once I try connecting it to a sub slot on the deck nothing happens and ties to recognise the hard drive. What can this be? Thanks
