Mac Users - How to restore your rekordbox database after downgrading from 4.2 to 4.1.2 (with Time Machine)

Pulse posted a great tip on how to restore the automatic backups in Rekordbox. This only works if you've run RB less than 3x in the 4.2 version and assumes you have Time machine set up.

A better way to get your old database (without the missing tracks is to do this).

1. In finder, choose Click "GO"

2. Choose "Go to Folder"

3. Paste this in the box: /Users/**your username here**/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox, for example /Users/admin/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

4. Click the Time machine icon (a clock with an arrow in a circle) and select "Enter Time Machine".

5. With the Pioneer folder in the forefront, choose the June 29th or 30th  on the right side. This assumes you upgraded to the buggy 4.2 on July 1st when it was released.

Choose datafile.edb and select Rstore. Time Machine will prompt you saying that file already exists, and choose to overwrite it.

This will take you back to the database PRIOR to 4.2 which is notorious for removing your files when moving it around.  For me, it removed three files which I couldn't figure out which ones, so I immediately rolled back to 4.1.2 and did this to restore my database the way it was the day before the upgrade came out.

Hope this helps some of you if Pulse's auto-backup trick doesn't work.

You can revert to a previous version of your database through an automatically created backup in the rekordbox folder:

Win 7/8/10: C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Pioneer\rekordbox
OSX: /Users/yourusername/Library/Pioneer/rekordbox

Rename datafile.edb to datafile.edb.old
Rename datafile.backup.edb to datafile.edb (removing .backup)

rekordbox automatically creates a backup each time you launch the software; if you have opened / closed v4.2.0 more than 3 times you may not be able to recover your database in this manner. Please check the date / time of the backup files in order to choose the most appropriate version.
