I am about to press go on the purchase of a latop to support my new DDJ RX.
It has this spec:
9S7-179675-024, MSI GL72 6QC-024UK, 1614526416 - Save on Laptops
Is this going to cut the mustard? Do I need to consider any type of soundcard?

Yes, it is Windows 10 compatible.
No, the RX doesn't require USB3 as it's using USB2 standard communication for the control; it does not require more bandwidth than provided on USB2.
If I were you, I'd go with the 15" unit instead of the 17" simply for ease of transport, plus it has an i7 vs. the i5 in the first post.
Oh, and go with a solid-state drive, you'll thank me later.

IMO I'd go for the SSD drive instead of the old 1000GB 7200RPM HDD.
Also 17" - isn't that way too big? - the resolution is still the full HD (1080p) what mens that there is not much benefit in such a huge screen.
The DVD drive is obsolete these days and only add weight you will carry...
The think RX is not USB3 but the USB3 is backwards compatible so no problem plugging it in the USB3 port.
You don't need a soundcard as the RX is the soundcard itself....
Yes on USB 3.0 and I am using a bare bones stock 2 year old Macbook Air with 4gb RAM and no issues......

Does the main unit attach by us or is there a special socket needed in laptop and if a choice between old moving parts 7200rpm hd with massive storage and ssd small storage split with extra storage what would you go for?
