100% CPU usage while rekordbox is running

When I started rekordbox, the rekordbox application is using 100% CPU.

I have a Macbook Pro 15 Mid 2015 and rekordbox v4.2.1

Are there any plans to solve this issue?

I am having the same issues. It started at 96% and I made enough adjustments to get it down to 92% this isn't even with the controller connected. Same system as you 8gb ram. Clean install

I was going to make a new post about the CPU issue, but it seems I can tag on yours.

I decided to prepare some of my tracks in bed last night, so was running off battery in Export mode. Simply loading tracks one by one, adding cue points - that was it.

Battery was going down by about 10% every 5 minutes...!!!!

Rekordbox was at 140% CPU in that time ... what on earth does it do??

I think the heavy CPU usage since 4.0.0 is part of a large cloud computing platform, I believe it's called "SkyNet" .  We think Pioneer DJ is actually DJ software but they are in fact powering the brains behind the robots.  Soon the machines will take over and destroy humans and all the DJs will have blood on their hands as they ran this software.

Hello every one, (soryy...my English is not perfect)

Maybe the solution given by Pulse on my post (modo & support technical) can help both of you...

I run on I5 6200 cpu (no mac) with R.box 4.1 when the same problem come's...he advised me to run it on manager administrator & the problem goes away... Now i run on latest up date & everything run well (just a new bug on DDJ RR - slicer does'nt exist...lol, but anyway, it's not a bad problem...)

I hope that can help you...

See ya...

regards

Are you sure you guys don't have tracks analysing during that time? My rekordbox sits at 20% when nothing's happening, 32% with 2 tracks loaded, 40% with both tracks playing, and I can get it up to 100% when I have all effects and samplers engaged.

Oh, and I have capacity for 800% processing, so really, 100% is more like 12.5%.

My computer is a 2012 MBP running a Core i7 @ 2.3GHz with 16GB RAM and a GeForce GT650M dedicated graphics chipset.

Nope, nothing analysing. Just using export mode to mark cue points, that's it!

@Ben > What's the spec of your computer? (CPU / RAM / Operating System)

Ok.

Rekordbox running - nothing loaded: 27%

Export Mode - one track loaded: 32%

Export Mode - one track playing: 38%

It's a 1.8Ghz i7, 4GB Ram, El Capitan 10.11.6

Now as I said above, my CPU was running at 140% for RB at that time (whereas now is a fresh load and its only at 38%) - so it seems to just be increasing over time used....

Just added cue points for that one track - CPU didn't go over 40% - but my battery is down 30%!

Yup this is has been discussed ad nauseum on multiple forums and many threads on this one.

Yes - rekordbox is a memory and resource hog

Yes - RB uses more 'resources' than Traktor, Serato, Logic and Ableton (with a reasonable amount of EFX chains)

Yes - Pioneer says this because Rekordbox does a lot of stuff and because of industry leading low latency

Yes - there a lot of room for software tightening up. Traktor and Serato have YEARS ahead of Rekordbox on this

Yes - It will probably get tigher code over the years

No - this will not happen overnight

Do I like using RB. Absolutely. But I do not appreciate when my macbook sounds like a 747 taking off and I can feel my pants burning when setting cue points on the go.

Hope that Pioneer acknowledges this (other than saying stuff like -- you have 4 cores so 70% is nothing).  After acknowledging this, hopefully they fix some of the code to make it lean.  It's like you can write a snazzy website with lots of flash and javascript and make it do awesome stuff that crashes a lot of browsers.  Then you re-do it all in HTML5 and script the Flash and stick to basic and limited Javascript and now you site looks just as awesome but renders in a fraction of the time and works across multiple browsers.
