It sounds like you're not getting enough power to the controller. Since the DDJ-SR is USB-powered, please try swapping out your USB cable and using a different USB port on your computer.
My DDJ SR keeps freezing and not responding with serato. I recently bought a new laptop that is high spec as my old one was struggling to cope during gigs(but it never froze). However even though I have carried out optimization and installed the most up to date driver and software I had 3 instances during a gig last night (and 4 times during the gig before that) where the controller stopped responding. I had to wait for the track to finish playing them reboot the controller. This only happens to tracks on the Left Hand channel, the right hand side does have an issue with master tempo randomly coming on however. Is this a controller issue or is it serato? Before I spend £100 on a RekordBox license I want to make sure I'm not going to have the same issue with that too.
I reinstalled serato/driver and crates then used my controller at home last week with no issues. for my gigs i'm connecting to a mixer, not sure that has any relevance though

i have the same problem with ddj-rx and rekordbox on my macbook
Oh, that's not what I wanted to hear... just finished installing the Rekordbox trial and sorting the playlists...
i go my rx to service today,so i am waiting to learn what is the problem...When i learn i will let you know
Hi Mark. Thanks for the response. Can I ask though, if it's power why is only happening to tracks on channel 1?
Not sure, but I've seen it happen before.
I've got the same issue, just bought a DDJ SR controller to use for small pub gigs, updated everything to the latest firmware, but it keeps crashing Rekordbox Dj, there is nothing wrong with my laptop as it runs my DDJ SX2 with no problem at all,I am interested to hear about the power issue from the USB ports, and i'm thinking that it maybe the compatibility for Usb 3 ,as I have had this issue with a rival Usb powered controller crashing VDJ software, they came up with a software update, maybe this needs one too?
