moving songs in the explorer part

Hi,

I started using rekordbox recently to make usb sticks so i can use them on the cdj's

i have new songs regularly and i have them in a new song folder and playlist.

after some weeks i clean it up and remove songs i wont play anymore and move the others to their appropriate folder/playlist.

To move or add them to a different playlist works fine.

But when i want to move then to different folders (explorer) in rekordbox,

that is not possible which would be great if that was possible.....

so i need to do this outside rekordbox...

After i moved them and i go back into rekordbox i get a missing file error on the songs i moved....

So i have to right-click them and relocate them.....manually....

After a while i found under 'file' Tab 'display all files missing'

I thought GREAT! maybe i can do it automatically here.....but no...

At least i do not need to find the missing songs manually anymore...

i have 20-50 songs every 2-3 weeks and this a lot of extra work to do this...

it would be very nice to be able to move the songs (explorer) and that they would automatically be updated in the playlists.

or am i doing something wrong?

@Kurt > To be perfectly blunt, that is horrible music management.

You should put them into the appropriate folders you want to sort them into, and place all of those songs into a "New" playlist within rekordbox.

Any songs you don't want, delete the physical file, remove the songs that are "missing" in the playlist.

Not sure I'm following along here, you shouldn't have any problem moving playlists from one folder to another, I do this all the time. Also, you should be able to make those adjustments locally on your computer (Rekordbox) and then Sync those changes with your USB flash drive so that it mimics the changes you made.

Can you make a video demonstrating what's going on so we can understand the problem more precisely?

With regards to manually moving things on the USB stick, that's not recommended. In other words, don't do it. :)

When you Export songs/playlists from RekordBox to a USB flash drive (or other External HDD source), Rekordbox is writing the data in a specific manner that enables it to be read by CDJ/XDJs. It's not designed to be manually adjusted and doing so will cause it to malfunction or stop working entirely when trying to use it with a XDJ/CDJ. The way to resolve the error is to reformat and start over.

Cheers.

Hi,

What i mean, i have several folders on my hdd (dance / edm / hiphop / electro / pop and so on) and i have one folder called "new" (also on my HDD) where i place new songs in.

After a few weeks i want to place them into a different folder. (so i mean the mp3 files not playlists :) ) and remove the songs that i am not gonna use anymore.

(it would be very nice if this would be possible inside RekordBox...)

So i move the mp3's from the 'new' folder into the appropriate folders (dance / edm / hiphop / electro / pop and so on) on my HDD outside RekordBox.

Then when i go back into RekordBox i need to 'relocate' all the songs that i have moved to a different folder manually...and i do this about every other week.

i am not placing anything yet onto a stick (that works fine)

so i am just sorting on my internal HDD.

Thanks for the quick response and sorry if i explained it wrongly, English is not my native language.

Greetings,

DJ KurtSwagen

@pulse I have them in a 'new' playlist!

But i have them in a "new' folder and i do NOT want to place them into the appropriate folders until i know i want to keep them. many song will not be kept so that gives me more work to place and remove them.

If i placed all of them in the appropriate folder then i need to find them in several folders to remove them... that would take me more time to do so....

Hi,

It is actually called : Relocate.

I am already doing that.

But it would be much easier if it was possible to move the physical files inside RekordBox and that the location would automatically be updated in the playlists

It would save me a lot of time.

Greetings.

No -- I mean to find the physical file so you can move / delete it.

On Mac, it's Show in Finder.

From there, delete. Poof!

Still i need to place 50+ songs into different folders where maybe 5-10 will stay

so i need to locate 40-45 songs to delete again......

If they are in 1 folder i can move those 5-10 song to the appropriate  folder and remove all the rest with pressing 3 buttons...

And i am only saying it would be easier if this could be done inside Rekordbox
