Master deck not changing thus no quantizing

Hi. I come from Serato and have used Rekordbox DJ (4.2.4) four times in club gigs. All in all, the software is great, but one problem keeps haunting me.

I use DJM-2000 as a soundcard and 2x CDJ-2000 as controllers in HID, computer is a Macbook Pro. In every gig (5 hours long) following happens. For some reason at some point the master deck is not switching to the playing deck and because of that no quantization is happening. And that problem can go away just like it appeared.

In detail... yesterday I played for an hour, everything was fine. The master deck changed to playing deck like it should. Then all of a sudden not anymore. For example, left deck (deck 1) was playing, I mixed in the track from the right deck (deck 2), after the mix I stopped the left deck (hitting CUE), and the master deck didn't switch to right deck. So the master stayed active on the left deck. If that problem appeared quantize didn't work anymore also. For example, when I press play the beat didn't snap to grid. If I changed the master deck to right manually quantize didn't work also.

What's strange is that this (master deck not switching) can go on for half an hour or an hour and then all of a sudden everything works fine. Master deck changes like it should. I can't figure this out. All this scenario above happened to me yesterday 3 times. Where is the problem? All my tracks are analyzed and beatgridded in Rekordbox DJ.

I have also been experiencing this same problem since 4.1.2 . In addition to the master track feature no longer functioning, the master tempo no longer works. Tracks no longer stay in their relative key, the tempo slider drastically alters the pitch and wrecks my sets. Only way I have found to fix it is to completely restart the rekordbox software.

To Pulse or whoever is going to say "submit a ticket", I have submitted multiple and gotten no response or denial that there is a bug-they "can't reproduce the problem".

@Pulse > I have an update. I played on Friday in a different nightclub and this 'master deck not changing problem' didn't occur. So, the differences were:
1) Mainly the mixer. I used DJM-900NXS2 (as a soundcard), instead of DJM-2000.
2) I didn't use the sampler.
3) Different set of two CDJ-2000s. Though I can't see how this could make a difference.

So, maybe this info help the engineers further.

Hi there,

Same problem here in June 2018 !!!! with Rekordbox 5.2.3 on Mac OSX 10.13.4.

The problem appears whatever the configuration: all internal or with a controller.

When the track ends on deck 1 and deck 1 is master, normally the deck 2 playing should become master. It doesn't. This is quite new to me, never had this issue before.

This is a real problem: let's say deck 1 was playing at 120bpm (master). Track ends on deck 1. Deck 1 stays master while deck 2 is playing at 120bpm. Now, I load a new track on deck 1 which is at 125bpm. Because deck 1 is still the master, as soon as this new track is loaded, suddenly deck 2 will shift from 120bpm to 125bpm :(

This was working before very well. What happened?????

Hi Tom!

I've tried to solve this issue with Pioneer for almost two years now. But they don't seem to find the problem. And yes, with version 5 the problem is as bad as it was when I first reported it (back in version 4.2.5). After first reporting it they made some changes, so right now I'm still using 4.3.1beta7. As this version works best for me. The master deck issue occurs maybe 1-2 times per gig (5 hours long) or it doesn't occur at all.

As for a workaround to your described scenario - if that master deck not changing happens, before loading a new track switch SYNC off. Then the beat doesn't shift.

I'd suggest you file a proper inquiry here, then the engineers can ask you specific questions and maybe that'll help solve the issue, because it's getting ridiculous - almost two years and no solution to a bad bug...

Indeed, for the moment I mapped the Master function to a button of my Xone K2, and I manually change the Master deck before loading a new track. Obviously this isn't convenient, as at one moment or another I'll forget to do it.

Let's hope they'll finally consider this issue seriously. It's one of the main feature of the software, not some sampler gadget!

Pioneer, come on!
