i know that it’s typical for people to rush to forums to express their concerns, issues or dismay for products that may have purchased, especially as an investment. However, I would like to send a shout out to Pioneer for leading the industry by releasing wonderful hardware matched with decent software. Yes products costs a premium and features are timed release, but I was very skeptical about placing another huge investment in pioneer coming from the Serato camp. I’ve used just about every type of setup you can imagine dating back to the good ole sl1/ttm57 scratch live days....rest in peace 2.50. I’ve invested plenty of cash in Pioneer’s hardware on the Serato side ending with the sz2 (wonderful kit btw) and decided since Serato wasn’t bringing anything new to the table that I would venture on the pioneer software side. With this thought I wanted to start with a kit that would show me all the potential of what Rekordbox had to offer, hence the RZX.
i must say I was skeptical after doing my research and reading many posts complaining about either the rzx or the software not being ready for it. Boy was I surprised at how the bad boy allows you to do everything imaginable. It has everything a dj would dream of coupled with all the tricks of the trade a dj has in his/her toolbox, the sky’s the limit. I must say that I had to tweak the heck out of my PC to get it to run the way I dj (lowest latency)., and once that was accomplished I haven’t looked back.
i have close friend who are participating in Serato’s 2.0 beta and was informed that outside of an offline player and few other oddities, they aren’t bringing anything new to the table. Of course I’ve invested so much time and money in Serato’s ecosystem, and it will be a slow transition but I’ve decide that within a year or so I will be 100% pioneer. So with that being said I wanted to say great job pioneer and keep improving upon Rekordbox DJ because it’s a blast to spin on!

Hey Pulse, I also want to say "kudos" to YOU! And to Pioneer for all the new Rekordbox software & hardware!! I've been an avid Serato user since its inception, I received the SL1 kit as a gift when it first came out, courtesy of an industry friend :-) Prior to that, I was still ALL VINYL, never made the complete transition to CDs or CDJs, and never really got into Traktor, etc. But, after a DJ friend of mine showed up to a club gig with just his headphones and a flash drive (club has CDJ-2000s), I was blown away!
I sold my SL-1 & SL-3 boxes, my unused Traktor Scratch Pro kit with Audio 6 box, and my Pioneer DDJ-SR. I picked up the Pioneer DDJ-RR, and haven't looked back...
I now own a pair of Pioneer CDJ-900NXS and a Glyph drive for my music files, plus the DJM-450 mixer and DDJ-SP1 Sub controller to complete my CJD/turntable setup at home. I did own the CDJ-RX2 for a couple of months, but couldn't tear myself away from a hands-on computer keyboard for the way I hot-mix. Plus, it weighted in at over 40lbs with the flight case - too heavy to take out on the regular. So I sent it back, and ordered the DDJ-1000 instead, and I CAN'T WAIT for that one to arrive!!!
Incidentally, I am interested in speaking to someone about hosting a Pioneer showcase for Chicagoland local DJs (tons of 'em), to get them onboard with Rekordbox and all the new Pioneer hardware as well. Pulse, if you can direct me, I'd greatly appreciate it :-)
Keep up the great work Pulse, thanks for all that you do!
Hey John, thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear you're rockin' the rekordbox. :D
I'd recommend reaching out to Matt "Play" Davis in Chicago, he's one of our demo team and could help coordinate with our marketing and sales teams.
