Using rekordbox in HID mode or with ethernet cables?!

Hi all, hope you can help

For the past 2 years I've been using rekordbox DJ and my setup is:

Thunderbolt to USB converter - usb 2.0 cable directly to mixer (DDJ-750 or DDJ900)

Macbook air

Usb cable to deck 1 and USB cable to deck 2

Allgood so far

Note the converter I'm using because the MacBook air only has 2 usb ports so I've had to use the thunderbolt port to make another usb port available. I know I could just use 2 X usb cables on their own but I want to record my mixes so this is how I found it works.... Up to now anyways

For the past month or so during a set my music can either glitch and audio would stop for a few seconds then be ok for the rest of the night but last weekend it went off completely. The software hadnt crashed but the audio just stopped. It was kinda like someone moving the fader up and down fast every 2 seconds.

So I was looking into using thunderbolt to ethernet converter then ethernet to a hub then 2 ethernets to each deck but surely there's an easier way! If you can shed some light on my current problem in HID mode then please do. If you think ethernet hubs are for the win I would appreciate some more info on this. Thanks in advance

What are the CDJs you're using? Unfortunately only the DJM-900NXS2, CDJ-2000NXS2 and XDJ-1000MK2 currently support the "USB-to-ethernet" bridge.

You could certainly use a USB hub, provided it has enough bandwidth to support the devices connected to it. We typically recommend, even on a USB3 hub, that you connect the primary audio device directly to the computer via a dedicated USB port (or the sole USB device on an adapter as you describe).
