Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 + Mixxx v1.11.0 on LMDE2 issue

Hi,

I have Mixxx version 1.11.0 build r3862 installed on an up to date LMDE2 (aka Betsy - based on Debian Jessy). I've just got and plugged a Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 controller.
I followed the udev related part of the "USB HID" instructions on the hercules_dj_control_mp3_e2 wiki page and was able to enable the controller and load the preset from Neale Pickett in Mixxx. A BIG thanks to those who edited this excellent page BTW.
I've just loaded two tracks and tried the controller buttons/knobs/faders with no effect on Mixxx... The controller per se seems to behave kinda ok from what i can see (e.g. lights can be set on/off by pushing the shift buttons). I tried to plug the controller both in usb2 and usb3 with no luck.
Any clue?
