Problem recording ddj-1000 to ableton

Hi,

I am having problems whilst trying to record my ddj-1000 to Ableton.

I understand that you can record within Rekordbox, however, I have always used Ableton for recording and find it much more convenient to be able to record everything within Ableton.

The problem that I am having is that any time I move any of the faders I am getting audio dropouts, for example, if I have a track playing on ch1 and move the fader for ch2, the audio for ch1 will dropout meaning that I am unable to record anything.

The audio dropouts are only happening when trying to record via ableton, audio through playback on my headphones, speakers etc. does not dropout, only through Ableton. I have tested the controller with streaming via OBS using the same connection from the ddj-1000 to the laptop and have no audio problems so I am unsure what is causing the issue with Abelton.

I am running the latest version of Rekordbox on a MacBook Pro with High Sierra and have also updated the firmware on my ddj-1000 to the latest version.

Anyone else having similar issues or have any suggestions on how to rectify this issue?

If you're trying to use the audio device in two applications at the same time, that may be the issue.

Hi, I am simply running an rca to 3.5mm mini jack from the master to the mic input on the laptop. I am unsure what the issue is or what could be causing the audio dropouts, this only happens when I move the faders and I find it strange that moving a fader could drop the audio from another channel.

Any further suggestions on this? I have tested recording via the same method using my djm and cdj setup and have no issues at all.

@Graeme > The mic-input is not designed for line-level input; don't do that.

If you're using rekordbox, record your set within rekordbox.

Hi, not sure why you are advising that it is not designed for line level input, the laptop has a built in mic/line-in input which is designed for audio input.

I have recorded my sets using this method for the past 15 years and had no issues with it.. clear audio, no distortion and there were certainly no audio dropouts until i started using the ddj-1000 and Rekordbox.

You say that I am set within Rekordbox, but for me, I don't feel that I am set within Rekordbox. The recording stops after 3 hours and then starts a second recording, meaning that if I am wanting to record the full night I am then having to import the recorded audio from Rekordbox to Ableton to join them.

The audio records fine using the ddj-1000 and Ableton when a single track is playing, however, as soon as I move any fader on the mixer, this is when the audio drops, this is the part that is confusing me.

What method would you suggest for recording from the ddj-1000 into a third party DAW?
