pioneer ddj wego 4 and virtual dj software problem

I'm finding pioneer ddj we go 4 to be highly unreliable with the controller sound card. I'm usually able to split the decks from home in LI, but whenever I go to a venue in the tristate or philly etc. 9/10 the soundcard doesn't run. Is there some location issue going on? I even use wifi hotspot from my phone, but should I even need that? I need help This is frustrating and I can't possibly work as a profession dj with an unreliable piece of equipment like this.
