ddj sr stuck in update mode (time sensitive, please help)

I tried to update the firmware from 1.07 to 1.08 and followed the instructions perfectly. When I run the update I get the error message "DDJ-SR controller is not connected". I changed the usb cable just to make sure that wasn't it, restarted everything and same message. Now I just want to go back to using my controller in 1.07 because I have a gig in 2 days but it's stuck in update mode!

I had this issue on OS 10.13.6.

I attempted to update the firmware on a brand new DDJ400.
Came back to the laptop and the update had failed for some reason.

The Channel levels LEDs were blinking and there was no way to reset it. 

The only way to fix this was to plug the unit into another machine (OS 10.17.7), run the updater again until it reached 100%, and then the unit was no longer in update mode.
