DDJ-S1 version 1.10 firmware update error

Running latest version of Serato DJ Pro on DDJ-S1, getting midi not connected message.

Tried a mac and a windows machine (drivers downloaded on windows machine, mac doesn't need them). Have tried all the troubleshooting on the serato pages. Can't get controller going. Sound is coming through the controller, but controlling action not happening.

Seems to just be the Firmware update that can be the reason we can't play.Trying to update the firmware via the link on this page

https://www.pioneerdj.com/en/support/software/ddj-s1/

Getting the error could not update message after choosing the language.

Have done a lot of googling and no real answers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi Wendy,

Here are some troubleshooting steps I'd like you to try on your Mac; please provide me with the results for each...

1. Check that the computer recognizes it as a USB device

  1. With the unit powered-on and connected via USB, open the System Report by click the Apple icon > About this Mac > System Report.
  2. In the left pane, click Hardware (if not already open) > USB.
  3. On the right, look for the DDJ-S1 and click it to see if the details are provided.
  4.

2. See if the OS recognizes it as a MIDI Device

  1. Open the Audio MIDI Setup app.
  2. Open the MIDI Studio window if it's not open; Window > Show MIDI Studio.
  3. See if the DDJ-S1 appears in the window with a solid color.
  4. If it does not appear or you feel this may be part of the problem, you can try creating a new MIDI Configuration.
  5. Click the drop-down (currently showing Default in the image above) and select New Configuration...
  6. Give the new configuration a name and click OK.
  7. The connected devices will be scanned and your DDJ-S1 should appear.

3. Check the audio device

  1. Open the Audio MIDI Studio app.
  2. Open the Audio Devices window if it's not open; Window > Show Audio Devices.
  3. Verify that the DDJ-S1 appears as an audio device on the left.

Please let me know the results for each section.

Hi Pioneer

I'm running a DDJ SR2 with a Mac, and have never had any trouble until I recently updated to Monterey.  Now no inputs are reaching the laptop from the controller.  I have spent two days trying to get to the bottom of this with no success.

I have checked the steps you asked Wendy to check above, and my Macbook is recognising the controller as a USB device and a midi device, and is working as an audio device.

Like Wendy, I believe this is a firmware update issue.  The firmware report states "none connected" and when I attempt to update the firmware with the updater, it reports "SR2 is not connected."  Please help.  It's very frustrating.
