DDJ-400 with Djay for iOS audio drops out

I am using the Pioneer DDJ-400 with Djay (recent paid subscription version) on an iPad and twice now on gigs the audio output from the DDJ-400 stopped during the set and it was just silence. Djay never crashes and the audio meters light up in Djay but the meters on the DDJ-400 stop and no sound comes out. This happens about 2-3 hours into my set. DJ nightmare scenario.

I had to unplug the controller and restart the app in order for it to work again. Extremely frustrating and unstable. I am using the most current Apple lightning to USB adapter and when it's working it's really great, I just don't know why the audio output on the controller would suddenly stop working. It's like the connection drops but not all the way since certain things like the crossfader still responds. Is there something I can do here to prevent this? It only happens after a few hours of use. The DDJ-400 and Djay integration needs to be much more reliable. I am using it for 5-6 hours at a time.

I am using an iPad Pro with the most recent version of Djay Pro for iOS. I noticed there was a firmware update for the DDJ-400 in September which I installed hoping it would help but I was able to replicate the problem again at home. The controller seems to work fine with Rekordbox. 

I really want the DDJ-400 to work with djay! I thought this controller was now officially supported to work with Algoriddim's djay for iOS?

Are you only using the camera-kit or are you powering the DDJ with a USB hub at all?

My testing was with the older version of the camera kit, and I used a USB hub (powered) to connect the DDJ-400 and it powered the DDJ. I wasn't able to find much information online as to how much power is provided over the USB port from the adapter, and my concern is that unit may not provide adequate power to the DDJ. I'll have to ask our engineers for additional info.

This works up until around 2-3 hours of use then it drops out. It's happened on 2 gigs so far randomly and not at the very beginning. Thanks for looking into this, this controller with djay would be an ideal setup if this issue was corrected.

I have the exact same issue and reported it to both Pioneer and Algoriddim. No solution so far but Algoriddim has indicated that they are looking into the problem.

 

For me this happens on an iPad Pro with the USB-C to Digital AV Multiport Adapter from Apple and also another USB-C hub that I used before. It seems that the hub is not the issue, it's either iOS, Djay or the DDJ-400.

I leave my iPad connected to the charger so it’s above 80% of charge most of the time.

I have to report exact same issue using latest ipad air + newly bought apple lightning to USB adapter. Sound cuts out of controller a couple of hours in. It has only started doing this 2 weeks after purchase from what I noticed. Have a gig next week and nervous..

@CRM: done, I submitted the inquiry and it’s registered as #151184. I had to leave out the version of Rekordbox as I’m only using my pioneer on my iPad with Djay.

First of all, I apologize for my English, I would like to contribute something, I am a new user of ddj 400 and Djay, I was worried when reading these problems, I have been looking for the possible causes, and I have seen that some users of ddj 400 have the same thing happened with the notebook, the sound stopped coming out suddenly, apparently it could also be for the usb cable in bad condition or defective
I know it may be something absurd, but sometimes they can be the solution, sorry if someone gets angry at this post

I'm having the same problems

Only had my iPad pro 2018 & DDJ  400 less then 2 weeks 

Sound cuts out less then 2 hours in. Have the latest iPad version & AV adapter, lead & power supply from the Apple store. The AV adapter has the pass through so the iPad always has power & was at 100% when it cut out.

Any ideas as to what's wrong?
