Hardware unlock, RB6, and DJM-900NXS2

Why wasn't this mixer included in the hardware unlock devices when every other supported mixer was?

Because it wasn't sold with a bundled Rekordbox licence. The mixers that do unlock were bundled with a licence.

I'm not sure why Pioneer are doing this but I've two theories:

1. Simplicity
2. Most low end Pioneer gear ships with a licence. Pioneer wants anyone that graduates to use their high end club gear with Performance mode to have to pay for the privilege. Down the road if streaming gets added to RB then people will want to use that in clubs and will have to pay to do it via subscriptions.

Its ridiculous. I bought a license (inc dvs support) for my DJM 900 Nxs2 (That was bad enough given the amount the mixer cost), and it's useless now on RB6

Shafted as usual...

I don't see how the 900NXS2 can't get a simple firmware update that allows hardware unlocking. Kind of a slap in the face for thos eof us that spend a couple grand on a mixer can't get a pittance from Pioneer on using their software without issues.

Another pain is that now you can't simply bring your laptop to the club with NXS mixer and plug a single USB cable to use DVS - totally opposite to what Serato gives you as an option.
You either need a subscription plan, or bring a switching hub (if you have an Ethernet port on your laptop or an adapter) to only use Link Export with a pair of CDJ/XDJ players, because HID is not a free option.

There was an option to buy a budget controller for home use and get a bundled Rerodbox DJ license, giving you an ability to use HID mode on your laptop with supported hardware when you need it, but now it only works for current users, sticking with RB 5 for such compatibility reasons.

It's a shame, that you need to get a paid license to use hardware from the same brand.
