Switch it so the HOT CUE is lit on the right deck and that will force it to Serato mode.
If that doesn't work, try changing USB ports / cables.

DDJ SX2 pioneer can not function properly with the searato dj pro software
My controller DDJ SX2 was working normally until when I down loaded the pioneer virtual dj 8 on my computer. since then the controller started acting up when I connect it to the computer that has the serato dj pro.
it does recognize it but can not work properly cant mix songs etc
What can I do to restore the controller setting back to normality
am using a an hp laptop computer i7 windows 10 and a mac pro laptop.

can't figure out what the utilities mode is after going through the first steps

Power on the SX2 while holding SHIFT + PLAY/PAUSE on the left deck and the unit will boot to the UTILITY mode, then just press HOT CUE on the right deck. Once you've done that, power it off then back on.
