DDJ-1000 'Glitching sound' happens randomly

I've had my DDJ-1000 for only around 2 months and this problem has been there since the start, any help would be greatly appreciated. Everything will be fine for random periods, an hour, half hour, 90 minutes ect, and then all of a sudden, the sound just cuts out for maybe under a second and then continues to play again - only it plays with a horrible glitchy sound that sounds similar if you put 'Trans' Effect on at 1/4 beat, and does not go away unless I restart the controller. Rekordbox seems unaffected, I can still select different tracks ect while this glitch is happening. Only until I turn the controller off then on again, will the song begin playing normally again.. This is very frustrating, especially when it happens during my live streams on Facebook recently! I'm using a Macbook Pro 2011, 2ghz Intel core i7, 8GB memory, using High Sierra 10.13.6. Which I believe is enough for this controller. I've always thought it may be something to do with the laptop, but many of my friends seem to think it is the controller itself. Any ideas? Thanks, David P.S. I have a video recording of this problem, but I see no way to attach it to this post..

Well, let's start with the obvious; your computer is 9 years old. While yes, it has a Core i7, that CPU hasn't necessarily held up against change, especially when it comes to multi-threaded operation. (Check this comparison for your CPU vs a similarly classed CPU from a 2015 and 2019 MacBook Pro.)

If you have ANY other tasks running in the background, and on a 9 year old computer, I'm going to assume that you're not using a freshly installed OS, those are going to cause slow-downs and with any other system resources being used, rekordbox itself is starting to get choked out, never mind the fact the computer is also processing data for the displays of the DDJ.

Two things you can do...

1) Increase the size of the buffer for the DDJ. That will help a little, but the next item will be more advantageous.

2) Purge you computer. Uninstall unnecessary applications, terminate background tasks, disable services you don't need. Make it as sleek as possible.

Another thing to try is to disable the Intel Turbo Boost. This is a known issue for both Mac and PC where the turbo boost function will affect audio output.
