Try to reflash the 2.20 firmware.
During the mixing of USB flash drive the whole machine froze !! Did not respond to any button. Restart XDJ-RX required. This happened after the update to 2.20. Before I had 1.80 and went without a problem. Where is the problem? It is possible downgrade?

Try to reflash the 2.20 firmware.
Yeah me too! When I occasionally do weddings I'll have some long 70 / 80 min premix background stuff I can put on when I need to take a break for dinner. Now intermittently loading more than one of these will freeze the machine since the latest firmware update.
Everything will lock up and after a minute of playing but being unresponsive the machine will make a grinding noise like it's frozen on a particular sample. When you turn it off, the screen stays stuck on for several seconds and sometimes only resets when you turn it back on.
Try to flash the firmware again
If it is a common problem I think more people should have it. I just updated my firmware and gone try it tomorrow.
The same problem now describe 3 users, so it's probably not a coincidence. There's also another topic about freezing after the update to 2.20 !! How to fix it?
Pulse,
Can we get the firmware 2.10 someware again?
Lucas,
When exactly does he crash?
...minutes of playing?
Or some certain files?
I'm gone check tomorrow, didn't play with the 2.20 version.
Hey guys
FYI for the web designers, I had to create a new account just to post here again. Upgrading my forum account to pioneer.com account caused some weird loop where whenever I signed in it would ask me to sign in to post and that just took me back to the main menu. Clicking back on this forum post again it would ask me to sign in (even when already signed in) and so on and so forth haha. Thankfully creating a new account from scratch seemed to fix that problem so maybe accounts that transitioned have got errors attached to their permissions or something along those lines.
Anyway that aside and to the issue of the XDRX freezing, I've uploaded an example video to show what has happened since the firmware update when playing lengthy background mixes whilst you aren't at the decks.
https://youtu.be/vGfNyXFQV8E
*Please note before this firmware update there have never been any freezes doing the same thing* (Having the countdown timer not work for long audio files over I think 60 mins has always been consistent across firmware updates but never a personal issue as the tracks always played fine)
So in the video I have one long premix track playing at the total length of 4:49:08. It's coexisting nicely with another premix track at the total length of 2:04:53. So far so good.
I browse for another lengthy track and load one in (this one at 6:42:58) to replace Deck B on the right. For a brief second you'll notice the hotcues of Deck B disappear but instead of the new track loading, the previous track remains now without hotcues or other information and everything then freezes. This also happens when the Deck B track is a standard length of 3 / 4 minutes. With a shorter track sometimes it does work, but still every 3 or so attempts the same freeze will happen.
The top buttons then flicker but the audio plays out like nothing has happened. However nothing is responsive and you'll notice the LED level metre is stuck at one particular point. After about 20 seconds of being frozen the track will cut completely. Normally with a grinding noise but this time it just went quiet. Maybe it froze on a silent part of the track. But the weirdest part is when you turn off the unit and the screen stays on even when turned off. Everything resets itself once turned back on again, or if the power cable is removed.

Hi everyone,
So with "Nic" it's a matter of memory I think. Large files are a problem right?
And with you "ndorse" , also only large files?
"Lucas", is it also only large files with you? Or any files?
Everyone is using USB-stick or drive right? No Laptop with RB connected or in midi mode?
I have the Firmware 2.10 with me, maybee you can downgrade, BUT AT YOUR OWN RISC!!!!!! It's even maybe not possible if the XDJ says it has a newer firmware.

I wrote, during the mixing of the USB stick. Classic 320 mp3 files, normal length. Such files I've played thousands. During the event really do not have time to record a video: D A freeze came randomly. It is possible downgrade to 1.80?
Firmware 2.10 works great, never had problems, that should work as well, if not --> hardware problem.
I tried it. Downgrade is not possible
What is it with the software engineers these days, RB is full of bug also. Lucky I didn't update that one.
I never had this freezing wit 2.20.... It works great with Traktor on 8 - 10 H. Gigs and on 2 - 4 H. Tests with Kingston USB 2.0 drives there were also no Problem.
Maybe there is a Problem with your USB Sticks ? I also use Sandisk 3.0 64 GB and these ones are VERY HOT after a while ! It works great but i have some concerns about the heat..
Certainly not. I use the same Flash Drive Pretec i-Disk Vault 16 GB for several years in various devices from Pioneer, and has never been any problem. The problem is XD-RX and firmware !!
"I use the same Flash Drive Pretec i-Disk Vault 16 GB for several years"
Ok it seems that this is a special Brand for your Country. I would recommend to change the Sticks after 2 Years !!
Please try a Kingston or SanDisk or Intenso.
Pio have change the FW for supporting File Systems from Apple HFS+ !
What nonsense are you writing for? Why should I change after 2 years flashdrive? : D Larger bullshit I had not read yet. I will not change anything. Bad is firmawe 2.20 !!
This happened after the update to 2.20 !!!! Before I had 1.80 and went without a problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Lucas Drum,
Good luck with solving your problem, have a nice day.
The 2.20 firmware is just fine - I've been using it without issue for quite some time. I would certainly suggest using quality USB drives as that is the culprit for the majority of issues with Pioneer DJ products. One possible work-around is to format and re-export your contents to the drive.
Regarding the loading of long tracks, certainly of those longer than 99 minutes, I don't doubt there's a problem with loading not one but two, as they certainly exceed the memory capacity of the RX. My recommendation is to avoid it where possible. I can't think of a reason you'd need to load two 99+ minute songs simultaneously anyhow.
Hey Pulse
No dramas RE the memory issue on loading in two long tracks that completely makes sense and as you said is easily avaoidable.
I have however had the same issue happen since on two regular sized tracks around 3 / 4 mins each. The same thing happened as in this video I posted earlier:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGfNyXFQV8E&feature=youtu.be
However this time (as has happened before) there was a loud grinding sound that rung out even when the unit was turned off. Again it wasn't until I've pulled the power out that it has happened again. Unfortunately I wasn't able to film it as I was in a venue full of people looking at me with their fingers in their ears haha. It could be good to note I was using another USB to record the set at the time in case that is required when testing.
RE Thumbdrives I use really fast high quality Toshiba 256gb thumbdrives that work smoothly on all Pioneer Gear. I can wipe the library and try again in case there's a corruption but I've tried the same tracks, same USB on a CDJ 2000 nxs setup and there wasn't an issue.
Again nothing like this happened before the firmware update especially on those longer tracks. I used to have two side by side all the time with no issue and the firmware was the only new variable which is why I leant towards that being the potential issue.
Cheers for taking the time to read.
@Nic > Are you able to repeat the same issue with those same two tracks being loaded? I've never heard of anyone having a "grinding" sound with an XDJ-RX; an R1, yes, but never an RX.
Will give it a go and get back to you after the weekend, cheers Pulse :-)
Did a 4 hour gig, NO freezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
