Anyone had success using Traktor send fx routing with DJM Nexus 2?

Im very close to hitting purchase on a DJM Nexus 2 but Im struggling to find a straight answer to wether the Nexus 2 can play well with Traktor fx send to enable Traktor post fader fx and post fader loop recorder sampling.

Reading through the I/O usb setup guide of the Nexus 2 manual it does appear to have the I/O architecture to enable a Traktor S/R channels, theres even a blurb which says "FX RETURN can be used with compatible software", but the lack of anything online showing this routing is supported makes me wonder if the above is doable.

Ive spotted similar questions have been asked, my apologies! Im jus keen to learn a direct answer to what is achievable when Traktor is paired up with Nexus 2.

DJM 900 Nexus 2 right?

Have you tried sending it back to Traktor, setting USB 11/12 as FX SEND on the output tab on the DJM Control Panel?

On the Traktor setup / Input routing , select USB 11/12 on INPUT FX SEND, and on the Output Routing Tab, select one of your channels (ex channel 4 / USB 7/8) on OutputFX Return.

Never did it on the 900nxs...only on the DJM850, but it works about the same way.

I think it doesn't work seding via usb send ....it will only work plugged directly to a IPAD/Similar using software like the rmx1000 app

Sorry for the poor english, i'm from Brazil.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response!

So with your DJM850, was it setup with Traktor fx send/how was the result?

I don't own a Nexus 2 yet, jus trying to find out if it'll work well Traktor fx send before buying.

It does works well on the 850!

I dont'use it anymore because I need all 4 channels ( My setup is 2 Kontrol x1's + 1 Kontrol F1 / 3 decks + remix deck)

I ended using more the "hardware" effects of the DJM, and now I use only the Delay from traktor effects on single mode on each channel.

If you don't plan to use the hardware effects of the DJM a lot , I think it would be a better idea to get a mixer like a XONE:92 with the dedicated send/returns and a multichannel external soundcard!

A&H 92 dope mixer but not on my radar as scratch dj, but I hear what your saying about a dedicated send & return controls.

Great to hear it worked well on the 850, gives hope for how Id like to use the Nexus 2.

So I can try to figure out how DJM series and Traktor deals with digital send/return - On the 850, if for instance you "DONT" have the Traktor fx on but you selected a channel  on the 850 to send in the Traktor send fx I/O, did you then get a full dry signal sent to the channel you had set as the return channel? Or does the return channel only receive a signal from Traktor's send fx when a Traktor fx is activated?

Currently Im using an Allan Heath PX5 with Traktor scratch, fantastic mixer but to use Traktor send fx you end up doubling the signal you want to apply fx to due to the nature of the fx buss workflow on that mixer.

Im keen to find the best solution/mixer for Traktor send fx but the main reason Im after that setup is to get the best out of Traktor's loop recorder feature, I own a Z2 which only operates Traktor in internal mode. But to access independent post fader sampling via the loop recorder Traktor has to be in external mode, hence Ive experimented with the PX5 and now considering the Nexus 2.

Thanks again for your response!

Yes, it sends back the signal even when the FX on traktor is off - so yes you'll 'double' de signals when the FX is off and send/return is 'open'.

For me it's the correct way for it to work, as ou can control both send and return levels.....but you may have different needs.......you want to keep the send-return levels set and just turn the effect on/off?

I think you'll regret going from a PX5 to a DJM, you have dedicated send/returns per channel and allen & heath Quality.......

Actually it's not mixer/soundcard related - it's the way traktor works . It will be the same with any mixer / soundcard.

Your last comment made me think how I managed to achieve my desired fx work flow on external mixer setup with NI interface. Those mixers had Wet/Dry xfade which of course meant I could get jus the full effected signal without any phasing/doubling the signal for live sampling with loop recorder.

I need to get my hands on a Nexus 2 to see if theres any workarounds.

You use two channels as timecode right? Youre using two turntables / px5 / and what kind of controler to control traktor effects/library/etc? You want to "grab" loops and sample / mix it back on a third channel?

Im a one DVS deck kinda guy, for live shows my vid below shows best how I currently use Traktor and the controllers I use.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnU0tHknoX0

If Traktor allowed independent channel post fader sampling while in internal mode Id stick with the setup Ive got in the vid. Basically I wanna be able to use the loop recorder to sample my scratching and then dump the samples in to a rmx deck, its achievable on the PX5 but you have to make a lot of adjustments to the mixer before and after sampling which doesn't make it practical for those "in the heat of moment' times.

Another reason Im drawn towards the Nexus 2 is the USB iOS S/R option, there's a powerful live loopy app which is incredible for live sampling, but ultimately Id prefer to keep everything within Traktor as its gives more freedom to apply fx to individual samples etc...

Ok now I understand what you want to do! I don't know if it would make a big diference to the PX5 setup...you'll have about the same workflow......send back to loop recorder via send and back to the mixer on a third channel, setting the loop record output to that separate channel, no?
