XDJ-1000 freezing after connecting USB storage

Hello,

recently both my XDJ-1000s (which were linked via an Ethernet cable) crashed at the exact same time, one of them setting up an emergency loop. I tried restarting them multiple times, even with different USB devices, but I had no luck so far. They both now always freeze a few seconds after plugging in a USB device. When I'm not using any USB source, the touch interface seems to work as it usually does.

As this issue happened on both devices at the same time, I think a hardware problem is rather unlikely. Furthermore, I can confirm that the USB device is not corrupted as the issue occurred for multiple USB devices, even such that were not connected at the time when the issue happened the first time.

The players will also not connect with the USB device if I try to start them in firmware update mode - which I only did as an experiment. The firmware version has always been the latest (v1.13).

Does anyone have an idea what else I could try to get them working again? Thanks in advance!

Does this happen when you are not linked and you just try connecting a USB drive to one player?

Yes, I tried it with and without connection several times, no luck.

... however, I found the solution, maybe it helps someone in the future who experiences the same issue: All the USB devices I tried have been formatted with the exFAT file system. After formatting with FAT32, everything worked fine again. But I'm still kind of confused why it worked in the first place and suddenly stopped working and I wonder if it is recommended by Pioneer DJ to format a USB storage as FAT32 even if it is larger than 32GB - which Windows prevents you from doing, unless you use special software for that.

The XDJ-1000 does not support exFAT, only the CDJ-3000, XDJ-XZ, and XDJ-RX3.

Okay, good to know, thank you for your reply. Maybe just as a suggestion for future products, it would be helpful to get some kind of error message (or warning at least) for unsupported file systems, so that one can find out what's wrong more easily - if that's possible to implement.
