DJM-T1 crossfader defect

The crossfader is malfunctioning. If you ever played on a rane 56, they have a mode 2 that cuts out both channels when you put the fader in the middle. Well the crossfader on my pioneer is doing that now. it also plays both sides at the same time, so there is no actual fading out going on. Has anyone had this problem with their mixer? And how do I go about fixing it.

I took it in to pioneer. I sent e-mails to pioneer help desk and sent a video of the problem, then no one responded. I dusted off the old reliable rane ttm-56 and the traktor box....and the old macbook, cause my new macbook has USB 3.0 and doesn't work with the Audio 8 box.... so I'm proverbially back in the last century. My advice to you is take it into a pioneer service center. If you bought it the frist day it came out, you have a few more days before the warranty runs out.

@Niko > Did you get the problem resolved?

@Jorge > I just want to confirm -- the crossfader is cutting-out in the middle?  Is this when using it with Traktor or with line / phono sources?

@pulse, I am hoping to get the mixer back by the end of the month...hopefully. Right now it is at the repair shop. To answer your question to Jorge (at least in my situation; The same thing happens whether it is hooked up to traktor, or if you are using the lines. If you ever had a rane ttm mixer, it's like when you select mode 2 for the crossfader.

the crossfader cuts out in the middle. i called pioneer about this and they want me to send my mixer in for repair and wait 3 weeks! i have gigs that i need my mixer for. the least they could do is send me a new one. this is my third pioneer mixer and the first time that i have been through so much trouble

Yea, they told me the same thing when I called, The guy was trying to say that it might not even be the mixers fault, and that it was user error (I got pretty angry at that one) Then I asked who pays for shipping to pioneer, and he told me I had to pay for it. I asked to speak to his supervisor at that point.

Your best bet is to find an authorized repair center in your area, although i suspect that they probably just send it in to pioneer anyway. But if it is still under warranty, then it is not out of pocket.

Luckily I still have my rane mixer, so I am using that plus the audio 8 box.

@Pulse - As soon as I get it back I will let you know.

I just broke another crossfader on my DJM-T1. This is the 2nd one in less than a year!!!! I am completely fed up right now. Not cutting out when trying to switch to CH 2. This is the exact same issue that happened the first time. What a JOKE!!!

@Brandon > I'm sorry to hear it -- they certainly shouldn't fail like that.  I'm going to open a ticket with the engineers to see if they have any advice.

Truth! They would prefer for us to just buy new ones, or even worse, send the entire unit in so they can rotate the gear for us! LOL. Regardless, I'm so happy we figured this one out and I'm not out another $80.

I followed-up with the engineers on this issue and here's what they had to say:

If the crossfader is moved swiftly back and forth, the strong impact by this movement makes the gear teeth deviate and causes the issue as described by the users.  If the users who have the troubled units bring or send them to the service, the crossfader parts will be replaced with improved ones.  The updated parts are planned to be available in October 2012.
