Ok so after a lot of trial and error I think I have narrowed my recording issues down to latency over USB. I have tried recording from my DJM 850 using Auadcity in both Windows 7 and OSX 10.6.8 and in both the audio drops out after a random period of time. I have tested recording the same audio from the record out to 3.5 line in and records fine so I think we can narrow it down to USB issues.
I am using the latest drivers from Pioneer for the 850 and have tried both Audacity and Traktor Pro 2.5.1.
The spec of the system is a late 2009 MBP 2.4Ghz with 4Gb ram and Crucial 256Gb SSD.
I moved from Traktor Kontrol S2 recording over USB with no problems so is it a software issue from Pioneer as I can record fine using other hardware and software on the same laptop?
Really disappointing as it was the main selling point of the 850 for me :(

I notice that shutting down all running programs and disabling the wifi lets me record for longer, like 20 minutes before the latency issues kick in. Does this tell me that my MBP is to dated?..... surely not?
