How do I listen to the output of channels 5/6 while DJing with Traktor?

Hi, I want to DJ with Traktor Scratch Pro (2.51) and listen to the output of the DJM-T1 USB channels 5/6. 1/2 and 3/4 are the timecode CDs and 5/6 is REC OUT. So how can I listen to the REC OUT through my monitors which are connected to the computer sound card? I don't want to use any extra cables please! (I just want to plug in the USB mixer, use my headphones on the mixer, and listen to the master through my monitors attached to the laptop)

Many thanks, David.

Wouldn't your record out be recording the same thing that is being sent out your master output??

Hi John, I assume that, yes, but I don't know how to listen to "REC OUT". It doesn't show up on my Windows volume mixer.

OK....I assume you are recording via USB to your laptop.  Your monitors should be hooked up to REC OUT on the back of the mixer if you want to preview that signal.  If I am not understanding you correct, please reword your original question and try to be more clear, we'll figure this out :)

Sorry David, I googed the back of the 850! forgot you are using a T1.  I'll take a minute to think about this.

OK I think I get it but it would be nice if someone who knows more about the T1 can verify what I am about to say...

The T1's built in sound card does not have enough ins/outs to support you previewing the other channels that Traktor offers you.  You would need an external soundcard to add to your setup so that you can route your 5/6 to and back to your laptop.  I am sure that's why you dont see it.

Having said that, you might be able to route it to your laptop's sound card, as for quality in that case, I would imagine it would not be that good.

Hope that sums it up.

"you might be able to route it to your laptop's sound card"

I think this is exactly what I'm trying to do John. The idea is that I take the T1 and laptop from my decks after a gig, the laptop just goes into the dock (which hooks it up to the speakers) and the T1 just plugs in via USB - no extra cables running around the place - and I hear the T1 output through my speakers (which is now plugged into my laptop sound card).

IF you can do this, it should be found in the preferences of your Traktor menus.  I had done this a long time ago but not to rec.

Take a look around in there again, if you can't find it, I will take a look for you.

Goodluck
