i tried grounding it (to another mixer, as my turntables are self-grounding) and hiss is still there.

Folgenheadphones hissing
hi, i have a new DJM700 and the headphones hiss. the sound playing out over the speakers is fine.
for some reason, channel 1 has the loudest hiss, ch2 less loud, ch3 less loud again, and ch4 has the least loudest hiss (hardly audible)
the hiss gets louder as you turn the volume level up on the mixer.
even if i unplug everything from the back of the mixer, it still hisses.
tried new headphones, still hisses, tried the headphones in my old mixer and doesn't hiss.
i am in UK and the mixer has a european plug (2 pins) with a 3 plug adapter on it... dont know if this makes a difference grounding wise, or even if grounding would affect this, as it is only in the headphones the hiss is, the mixer doesn't hum.
can anyone help?
thanks.

hello?
is this white noise normal?
seems a bit poor for such an expensive mixer...
@Alan > In all likelihood, it sounds like a hardware issue with the mixer. How long have you had it / how old is it?
it is brand new.
There will always be a bit of hiss in the system, you'll find the most on CH4 because that's where the mic pre-amps are located. The reason you hear it in the headphones and not the master output is the quality of the D/A converter for the headphones is not as good as the master. Once you have music playing, you won't hear it.
