Folgen[SOLVED] Controlling BPM over Midi sync between Ableton and DJM-2000
I'm using a CDJ-less setup for DJing: DJM-2000, Ableton Live 8, and Novation Launchpad. My issue is with controlling the Global BPM for my set.
I'm able to get Ableton to sync to the DJM-2000 and I can use the TAP button to set a BPM but as all of you probably understand, this is not the most reliable method for BPM control (unless your timing is impecable). I'm able to assign Nudge buttons from the MIDI page but that doesn't solve my issue either.
Does anyone know if there's a way I can assign a knob to control the temp in Ableton or if there's a way to use the MIDI/SYNC page in the mixer for this purpose?
I think Ableton Push has a tempo control knob. I guess if there's no good solution, then I'll have to buy one of these...

Thanks Gavin. That would be great. I look forward to your findings.
Hi Shere
This is quite easy. Herre goes:
1) Go to Ableton Live preferences
2) Select MIDI Sync
3) Activate Remote for DJM-2000
4) Close preferences
5) Turn on Midi Map Mode
6) Click on the Tempo (coarse) to select it
7) Turn the desired knob on the DJM-2000 to configure the mapping
8) Select and configure the Midi Mapping setting to i.e. min = 110 and max = 150
9) Turn off Midi Map mode
Turn the knob and watch the magic happen :)
Hey Johnny, thanks a lot! I will try this out this weekend! Maybe I'll post a video of my results.
