[SOLVED] DJM, matching Bass, Mids etc...

I could use some advice here. When mixing a song, the Bass and all sounds like I have lined it up correctly while I'm playing but when I listen to it again from a recording I think to myself, ouch! I should have brought the Bass in a tad lower.

This got me thinking, maybe again. Why doesn't a DJM have volume bars or something for Bass, Mids, highs? For example we have a volume bar when mixing 2 songs so one songs doesn't overpower the other... Why do we not have a volume bar of sorts for BASS etc... Even just a number scale 1 - 10. When preparing to bring in another song it will show you how much you need to raise or lower the mids to match what is currently playing. You can make adjustments as needed...

I know in time people master this I guess but I think it would be a cool feature unless I am missing something and the better way is just sitting in front of me and I don't see it. Any advice?

The "scale" you talk about is called a VU meter. And if you were to have one for each frequency then you'd have 3 VU meters per channel. On a 4 channel mixer that's 12 VU meters just for channels alone - that's far too much space to be occupied and mostly unnecessary.

I'm not lecturing you on how to DJ or just say "use your ears" but in this case, ensure you have a pair of good quality headphones and monitors if necessary - don't rely on visual aids.

The one VU meter per channel should provide enough of an indication. Cut the mid and high frequencies fully and then the VU meter will represent the low frequency levels.

Ok, I have Pioneer all around... I'm an old man who probably needs a hearing aid if I can't get these VU meters added lol.
