Pioneer DJM700 output and audio interface

Hi,

I have just invested in a home studio for music production, and I would also like to be able to connect my DJ gear (2x CDJ2000 NXS and DJM700) to my audio interface (and my monitoring speakers).

I am not really familiar with Digital outputs, but my interface (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6) is equipped with several line and digital inputs:

  • Two analog Line inputs (1/4" TRS)

  • One analog S/PDIF input.

What would be an optimal setup to be able to transfer the output signal of my DJM700 into my interface (for the purpose of monitoring in the first place, not recording). I know I could also connect my DJM700 directly to my monitor speakers (KRK RP5) using XLR cables but I would like to avoid having to plug/unplug cables every time I switch from mixing to producing.

Many thanks

your sound card has 1 digital IN and 1 digital OUT.  Why don't you just set your mixer's digital OUT to the the digital INput of your sound card.

Also, your mixer has two more outputs (rca & xlr) in addition to the booth output. Your sound card also has more outputs. Use whatever you want and don't power any speakers you don't need when not using.

Hope you get what I mean.

I would use digital for recording by the way.

Thanks for the advice! Actually, I am not familiar with SPDIF and digital inputs/outputs at all. I have never used them and to be honest, I did not know how they worked.

So basically, what you are saying is that I can send the output of my mixer into my audio interface only with digital cables? This way, I will be able to hear the sound from my CDJs and mixer on the monitor speakers connected to the interface?

Sorry if my question sounds stupid

Regards

Hello,  I know this is a pretty old article, but I'm in a similar situation with my DDJ-1000SRT and an external audio interface connected to my speakers.  My audio interface only has one TRS in connection. I figured I could either connect TRS to TRS from my controller's booth outputs or from controller's master XLR output to TRS using an adapter.  Just not sure.  What did you end up doing?  Thanks!
