DJM-T1 Headphone channel issues

Hi Pioneer Forums,

Mentioned this in another thread but will ask it here seeing that this is a question - answer based forum.

Bought a DJM-T1 secondhand and have noticed that only the right channel plays when using a turntable through headphones. The sound comes through normally through speakers via both channels but only through one via the headphone jack. Now, swapping the right channel phono-line to the left channel input the signal comes through on the left channel of the headphone, I can swap channels and audio plays through this way when using the right channel cable but not when both are plugged in. Occurs on both Phono sections.

Am thinking its a setting the previous owner used, something in Traktor? Would be good if theres a reset function on the mixer allowing someone to disengage from any software quirks someone may have written to it... annoying as the mixer did not come with the Traktor software CD and as Pioneer do not sell the CD as a spare part it looks like I'm going to have to buy Traktor Scratch Pro 2 to use with it.

Any help would be appreciated.... can't be a hardware problem as it still plays when the cable is switched over.

Thanks

.s.

Let me repost this to see if I've understood...

  • connecting a turntable to CH1 with L/R in their proper connections allows audio to play through the mixer's master output on both channels, however only the RIGHT channel is produced in the headphones

  • reversing the input connections on CH1 (so the L from the turntable is connected to R, and vice-versa), the audio continues to play from both master outputs but now only the LEFT channel is produced in the headphones

  • the same thing happens when testing on CH2

  • you are currently using software, this was not tested with a regular ol' record or the LINE connections

Is that correct?

And yes, if you plan on using it with Traktor, you will need to own a copy of Traktor. You don't need to buy a copy from Pioneer.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yeah... connecting a turntable to CH1 allows for both channels to play but only the right hand channel comes through on the headphones. Reversing the connection on CH1 the audio still plays on both master outputs but switches channel in the headphones, the red or right hand channel is the only one that comes through I can switch it on either channel and audio plays on both master channels but only whichever channel it is plugged into through the headphones.... its the same with channel two.

Am not using software as I do not have the program it came with, that program being the one that Pioneer mislead people into thinking was being used with the promotional video. Tisk Tisk.

Regardless, yes it seems you have the problem correct in your reply... didn't realise that it still came through on both master outputs even though only one line is being used. Strange.

Question: Is it possible to use the same program the DDJ-T1 utilzes? Why is the software is still available for the DDJ-S1 and others but not the DJM-T!1?
