Newbie to both the DDJ-T1 and to these forums so apologies in advance if the questions I'm about to pose are: (1) simple to answer; (2) have been answered several times already. I did have a quick search but didn't turn anything up.
Anyway, enough with the preamble. I'm using my DDJ-T1 with the Pioneer version of Traktor, currently version 2.1.1, and am noticing that the sound occasionally drops out momentarily when, for example, dropping an effect in. Occasionally this also seems to happen for no reason at all. I assumed that this was down to latency problems or other running resources on my (probably under-spec'd) laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GHz, 2GB RAM running XP). I've tweaked my Latency settings (currently Buffer Size is a pretty high 640 with 24-bit bit depth) and turned off or disabled everything possible - network cards, soundcards, etc - but still get these intermittent sound dropouts. I'm using the built-in Pioneer DDJ ASIO driver by the way.
I'm also getting a problem with the Tempo sliders. Sometimes they just don't seem to work without rigorous sliding up and down to try and trigger them or even loading a different tune then re-loading the original one to try and 'wake' them up.
I did speak to Native Instruments about these problems and..... Well let's just say they were less than helpful as I have a Pioneer version of Traktor. Disappointing. I have however installed and run the DPC Latency Checker recommended by NI (I can't run Lancy Monitor on XP) and it appears to show no problems.
Have any of you more experienced users out there had similar problems and what was the resolution? I am willing to accept that my laptop is a bit under-spec'd and plan to upgrade at Xmas (assuming I've been a good boy this year :)) so if that's the general consensus then so be it. However if there are things I can do to my laptop, controller or software (or any combination of these) to improve things before then I'd be most grateful for any advice.
Regards,
Gordon.
P.S. any reason why version 2 of the Pioneer edition of Traktor no longer has any tempo sliders on the software? Not a huge issue if, like me, you use it in conjunction with the controller but it is a bit of a pita.
