Getting DDJ SX could be biggest mistake I have made??!

I received the unit last Wednesday had issues but found a manual online and resolved my problems. Last night I was mixing then my effects would not work the controller lit up and on the Serato screen you could see there was communication between the controller and Serato but no sound so I noticed there was a new update, installed the update and got my effects back BUT now my crossfader is reverse to what it should be, The B side operates the A section on the crossfader selector and vice versa VERY VERY frustrated! Now I noticed that on the Serato screen there is no more beat grid edit selection which in turn means I cant use the slicer effects on the pads. WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES IM DJin in Nashville on Saturday and need to get it fixed!

Cross fader...could be a simple fix as chainging your cross fader assign to the side you desire...either A... thur...or B.

To enable the beat grid edit section in Serato 1.1 you need to go into settings and change it from "simple sync"  to "smart sync."

I am also very frustrated with Serato. This is a very nice controller, from a hardware stand point, but it seems Serato is doing everything it can to limit what could be a great controller.  Good Luck to you.

Thanks for advice, I got the beat grid issue resolved but when I switch the assigned x fader to A or B it is reverse on the cross fader itself. Are there Pioneer techs out there? I have called and hard to get someone to answer. Thought Pioneer was the best I should have stayed with Numark customer service is the same!!

DO IT! I had mine for a week and a half and took me all that time to figure it out. I'm coming off of Numark IDJ2 iPod mixer. Been with Numark 20+ years I finally got to use mine live Saturday and it has the best sound quality of any mixer I have owned. Very user friendly as well. No mic issues and serato support is great!! My issues were mainly in software but that is only because I was not used to using.

Ive used pretty much every type of DJ equipment out there. Ive been gigging for a pretty good amount of time.

As of now the DDJ-SX is the best DJ controller on the planet and the hardware/software setup is the best combination ever, hands down.

I think the DDJ SX is a great piece of equipment when it is working, but I keep having dropouts and when I release the platters they take about half a beat to start playing the track.  I am using a Mac 10.6.8 and have had not issues with Scratch Live or with Traktor.  I have adjusted the latency and it still drops out on me about every 10 minutes.  I can't use this live like this.

Spending big buck is the biggest mistake us dj wrong doing buying pioneer dj products after spending around 30k the last ten years(djm800,cdj1000mk2, cdj1000mk3,djm350, cdj350,djm900, ,cdj2000, ddjt1,ddj ergo and hdj2000) im done with pioneer products why? They just want to sell but when warranty is needed they just dont care.

DJ Cosmic, sorry to hear of your experience with Pioneer this may be the standard as Numark has terrible customer service as well!

Derek I noticed on Serato that it states if you have larger libraries you will benefit from having more RAM. Not saying that is your problem jus trying to help out!

I did see that about large libraries.  Mine is around 20 gigs.  I have a 2.4 ghz intel processor, which should be more than adequate, but I notice you said you have the i7 and running 10.7.  If I knew this would fix my problem I would upgrade, but I have seen other posts of people claiming to have that same system and still having my same issues.  I really like the setup of the ddj sx.  I hope I can find a resolution.  Perhaps Serato and Pioneer underestimated the processor needed for this system to function well.

After testing everything I could I discovered something.  I checked my cpu usage during sets and it is around 1.6%, which is nothing.  I have closed any other program and nothing works.  I lifted the unit and the problem goes away.  It is grounding.  I have the unit on a metal table with foam padding on the top.  I tried it many times.  Every time I lift the unit off the table it plays normally.  I am wondering if all the posts I am reading from people are actually having this exact problem.  Maybe like my turntables I need to attach some sort of ground wire to this unit.

That persons issue turned out to be faulty wiring at his wall outlet. Has anyone tried using the XLR out puts to see if problem still occurs? Not a professional jus offering some insight.

That's nuts that the floor could cause an issue with the controller. Lol.

I have not tried the xlr outs yet.  I use xlr at a live gig, but at this point I am afraid to commit this unit to a live gig.  I will try it at my house to see what happens.
