Yes. You can use the CDJ's with cd's straight to the mixer but if you want to control Serato you will still need the box.

Folgen[SOLVED] DDJ SX and Serato with CDJs DJing?
Hello
Currently i own a Serato SL4 box and i DJ with upto 4 CDJ1000 Mk3's at the same time running through a DJM800.
I want to buy a DDJ SX to simplify my setup but i still want to be able to plug in 2 CDJ1000 Mk3's to allow myself to run on 4 decks. How can i use the 2 CDJ1000 Mk3's with the DDJ SX to still allow for simultaneous running of 4 music sources through Serato? Will i still need to use my SL4 box to control the CDJs or will the DDJ SX do that for me?
I hope that this request makes sense?

@Nick > I've haven't tested this out but it seems it might be possible. You'll still need the SL box in order to be able to connect the CDJs to your laptop for control playback (you'll need your timecode CDs too). You can connect two of the CDJs into the inputs on the back of the SX. Be interested to hear how this works out for you!
Is anybody able to test this out before I go out and buy a DDJ SX? Anyone down at Pioneer able to let me know if it is possible or not?
I have two CDJ 2000 Nexus' and the DDJ-SX and I have done it although the DDJ-SX does four decks on its own as is so I've only done this to test as it is not practical. This is plain common sense. YES it does work but there are things to remember. You WILL need an SL Box. You will have to use two laptops. One for SSL and one for DJ. Also the second you want to introduce a Mic you will need to take away one of the inputs (SSl deck) as it uses channel 1 or channel 4 (where the SSL decks would be) for the mic and does not have a dedicated channel for the mics. You can wait for Pioneer or start thinking about it. I 100% knew the possibilities of this prior to purchase by reading and looking at the rear of the DDJ-SX controller. Also you lose each and every effect the DDJ-SX introduces (Izotope FX) except for the dedicated filters.
Again this is very possible (obviously) but it is not practical. I would instead keep your mixer as it is one more piece that gives you way more possibilities. You can put the master out from the DDJ-SX to one of the inputs on the DJM800 giving you up to three CDJ 1000's and the DDJ-SX which offers four more decks on its own. This is what I do except I do it with CDJ-2000's and a DJM-900 nexus mixer. This setup is more practical as you dont end up limiting yourself in any way yet only need to introduce one more unit (the mixer)............................. think about it.
@Deejay Dave > I agree wholeheartedly, possible but not practical.
