Using UPS or Just a Power Surge to Protect our CDJ-2000 and DJM-2000

I live in Panama and here we have lots of power supply issues, voltage problems and supply disconnections some time.

We connect our 3 CDJ-2000 and 1 DJM-2000 to a UPS 2000 Belkin. In the Battery backup outlet.

It is recommended to connect these units to a UPS or is better to use a power surge protector only ???

Thanks for your help.

@Juan > Doesn't the UPS have a built in power surge protector anyway? It'd keep it on the UPS.

We face simmilar situations in my country. I use a UPS with a built in stabilizer because the power sometimes surges when the bass kicks in. Also sometimes during mobile gigs, some idiot might step on your main power or power may fail due to circuit breaker so I would definitly urge you to use a UPS with a built in stabilizer which can protect against both high and low voltage

Voltage regulation is better than anything; if you don't regulate your voltage, dips or over-voltages can damage the gear more than a surge, spike or blackout.

I was looking for an affordable voltage regulator. I would especially like one of these for my RCF-312A's as well. Can anyone dig up one that isn't crazy expensive?

I use an APC Smart UPS 2200VA in order to keep all my Home Studio equipment running safe and sound.

However when it comes to maintenance costs, I have to pay pay around 200-250 EUR for new batteries every 5 years, but I guess this worths the money and effort.

You better protect your gears with a good UPS battery, and not any UPS. I recommend to use UPS with a Pure Sine Wave output to prevent noise or interference from those that are stepped sine wave that are not truly full sine wave. I have this one http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SMC1500

It is a little expensive but this worths the money as the gears that you have deserve a clean and good quality current.
