The external drive is a My Passport Essencial SE, 750GB. I reinstalled the hd's configuration software to double check the sleep function and it still says: "deactivate unit - never". There are also a few features to test the hard drive: Status Quick SMART: aproved; Quick Test:aproved; There is a Unit's complete test but will take a lot of time so I will let it running tonight and post the results tomorrow but since i treat this HD like a baby I doubt it will have any kind of bad sector problems. There are no other power saving functions but the Seep timer I mentioned before.

The USB Memory stick is a Corsair Flash Voyager, 8GB.

Both drives have nothing inside but what Rekordbox creates and transfers. I use them for nothing else.

All my tracks are .wav files bought @ safe places like Stompy and Traxsource. I don't use compressed files.

The problems happened randomly. They do not happen again if I just play a specific file again. This was tested. I so wish it was only a track problem......

The steps taken prior to the freeze were not anything specific. just regularly loading and mixing tracks. The freezing seems not to be connected with any actions like looping or something like that. Its just random and happens not only with the usb connected cdj but also with the cable linked one. Cable was tested using a cable tester and works fine. 

The steps I take with my files are: buy, analize in RB, fix grid, set hotcues and loops, load to HD. I wasnt using mastertempo (since it still doesnt work well like in my 1ks) and I have quantize on all the time.

Thanks for the info - I'll pass it along and report back when I have more info.  Also, thanks for your patience on this issue, as you can imagine, there's a lot going on and plenty of users seeking support for very specific technical issues that the engineers are trying to track down, replicate and fix.

@Stroboscope > What kind of cable are you using with the drive?  Is it the one that shipped with the unit or perhaps a very long cable?

The cable is the one that came in the box with the drive. It fits pretty tight and I never had problems while transfering data to the drive through it. Uhn... I doubt it would be the one causing trouble. And the Corsair USB stick doesn't have a cable...

Just trying to eliminate possible problems.  ;)

@Stroboscope > Do you have another USB device you can try?  The engineers are unable to replicate the issue on their end.

How often does the freeze occur?

Like I said before... I cant find a specific reason or anything to blame at. It happens randomly and out of nowhere. Yes I have some other usb memory sticks but probably they cant be compared with the Corsair. That brand is pretty solid and it would be too much of a coincidence if both, the hd and the usb stick suffer from the very same problem. I will test other ones anyway..... cause it must be anything but Pioneer gear fault right?

I am sure its about the firmware since it used to behave tighter before. I think and think and test and test and cant find an specific reason for that. Never ever had problems of freezing or drifting on other firmwares... well other bugs were solved true but then all these came up. If I could go back to the previous firmware versions I could test (one more test arrrggghh) but its not possible i think.

This weekend I had another weird freezing kind. The linked deck could do anything with the loaded track. Play, move forward, backward but the playlist got stuck at one point. Couldnt move back or forward and had to restart the linked cdj to have it working again... You should see my face watching the thing restart while I was praying for it to come back working ....

Are you able to replicate the problem consistently?

It happens randomly Pulse. Yesterday I did play for more than 4 hours with no freezing at all...
