I never get this when playing for hours on end? off a HD and USB stick. I thought this error only occurred when using Rekordbox with a Ethernet switch ?

Folgen2000s Freezing When Using USBs
IN MIDDLE OF MY SETS SOMETIMES MY 2000's FREEZE AND DISPLAY E-8302 PLAYER ERROR. I HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT USB STICK AND PORTABLE HARD DRIVES AND IT STILL HAPPENS! ALL HAVE BEEN BRAND NEW AND HAVE NO AUTO SLEEP MODE, HAVE ALL BEEN FORMATTED TO FAT 32, THEY ONLY CONTAIN MY MUSIC FILES AND ALL MUSIC HAS BEEN BOUGHT FROM BEATPORT AND TRANSFERRED TO THE USB VIA THE LATEST VERSION OF REKORDBOX. I ALSO HAVE THE LATEST FIRMWARE INSTALLED ON THE CDJ's. ALL MY LEADS ETC ARE ALSO BRAND NEW AND I ARE EXTREMELY WELL LOOKED AFTER. I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED WITH THIS AS I SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON THIS EQUIPMENT TO HAVE SUPPOSEDLY THE 'BEST' THAT IS ON THE MARKET AND FOR THE FACT I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO CARRY COUNTLESS CD's TO GIGS ANYMORE. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?

its not even when playing for a long time. It might happen in 10 minutes or a few hours. dosnt seem to depend on time at all.
Do you scan your content for errors with the mp3 tools? assuming you are using mp3?
are you using link? if so is this a dedicated switch or is it running thru your router?

Is the content all cbr or vbr?
does it happen with wav files?
As above i have had my decks since release and i rarely see my decks do this these days.
it really is better to come and discuss than coming and shouting as we would like to make sure you are satisfied with the decks and everything works as expected.
over the years 9 times out of 10 its the content at fault and i have seen others complain about content purchased from music sites that have caused issues.
discuss.
i cant imagine one of the biggest online dance music stores in the world having a problem with their downloadable content. I dont know if it happens with wav files. i purchase all my files on beatport in mp3 format so they come with artwork, although even that gets mixed up when transferred to the 2000s! I have no idea what cbr and vbr means?? I notice u said u 'rarely' see them do this, in my opinion even 'rarely' is completely unacceptable for a product that is the very top of the line. Why are these decks sooo sensitive to content??? Thousands of digital media players dont have this problem but the most expensive ones on the marked do, this is why i am angry. I was extremely satisfied with my 1000's but wanted to spend the extra money to move to 2000's for the better features and not having to have hundreds of cds everywhere. I absolutely love using my 2000's when they work :-/
@Paul > CBR and VBR are methods of compression, CBR being Constant bit rate and VBR being Variable bit rate.
As for your issue, can you identify a particular track this is happening with or seemingly at random?
Do you use your players in Link mode, sharing 1xUSB?
I know you are frustrated but please refrain from posting in all caps.
It isnt any particular track, just seems to be random. Yes i share one usb via the link mode. Sorry for the angry post, its just so frustrating and obviously quite embarrassing and unprofessional looking when this happens mid-set in a club environment. What does pioneer supply to their big name Dj's or what is their recommended storage device for use in a club environment?
Possibly a data read issue over link.
I never use link as it used to cause a lot of issues and always use 2 memory sticks one in each deck and have not seen any exxxx errors for several months since the firmware was upgraded..
even if you cannot imagine problems with beatport content it has been known to cause problems even if it is the artwork that has caused things like this to happen.
I'll also add that the cat2 network cables that come with the cdj's don't do the justice. I was surprised plugging them into my switch and rekordbox wouldn't recognize ANY of the devices... went out and got some fresh cat5 cables, haven't had any troubles since. Try switching the cables up, cat4, cat5 or cat5e and see if that makes a difference at all?
@Paul > Please try using the USB device ONLY on the device it is connected to; do not run the link and see if you experience any crashes or freezing of the players. If it doesn't occur and you find that you're only getting the problems with the units linked, please try replacing the ethernet cable linking the players and verify that there are no bent or damaged pins in either player and that the cable is seated properly in both players.
It happend to me last night as well in the middle of the set. It is 100% random, because after it stopped, I tried to play the same song, to see if that is the problem, and worked without any other problem .... if the problem is the share of one usb through link mode, than why do we have this option, if it's not recommended ? ... when you play in the club and the music stops, nobody cares what is the error written on the pioneer's displays ... they all blame the djs for that ...
@Catalin > I understand the frustration however there are several places the problem can come from, including bad files, a bad drive, a damaged export database, a USB drive not receiving enough power, a bad cable to the USB drive, a hard-drive going to sleep / power-save mode, a damaged ethernet port connection, a bad cable linking players... While yes, it is okay to use two players in link mode, there's no harm in having a second drive (one loaded to each player) or even a CD waiting just-in-case.
Okay, I understand your point ... so what you are trying to explain me, it's that the harddrive that I am using everyday for 6 - 7 hours to play music with cdj350, has a problem on friday or saturday when i have to play on cdj 2000 .... or the link cable that is coming with the pair of 2000 is damaged ... even if after the cdj has frozen, and I switched it off and on again, I was able to play the rest of the night without any other problem ... and how I told you ... I started with exactly the same track that I was playing when the music stopped ... from my point of view, it must be a problem with the link mode ... it's the only thing I am not using on cdj 350
Everyone from pioneer keep making excuses about this! If i go out and buy a £30 mp3 player and listen to all sorts of mp3's for days on end it will never freeze so why are the most expensive ones in the world so sensitive and temperamental? Why can pioneer not just admit there is a huge problem with the link system and recommend that it should not be used.
Well, all my files were passed through rekordbox ... if the files have problems, than rekordbox should not allow me to upload them on the usb/harddrive ... and if cdj 2000 is not compatible with all the usb's/harddrives on the market, I think that Pioneer should recommend us wich one to use, or provide us a drive wich will work 99.5% without giving errors ... I think that anyone will agree to pay 100 - 200 dollars more, and be sure that they will not have unpleasant surprises during the set
@Caitlin > There are many more variables than just "pop in a CD and play". Back then it was much easier to diagnose problems of tracks not playing. It's not just about creating a device list that's compatible, as you read in my listing there are MANY more technical issues that can cause problems, and yes, quite often it's a bad cable.
@Paul > Yes, a £30 mp3 player could play all sorts of garbage and damaged files, but that's all it does -- plays audio. You can't scratch, loop, adjust pitch, set hot cues...
