[CLOSED] Issues with the CDJ-350

Hello,

I just bought a Pioneer 250-pack, where I have a DJM-250 and two CDJ-350. Along with the bundle I got the Rekordbox program. It doesn't seem that Rekordbox is compatible with the CDJ-350 when I plug the mixers into my PC via USB cable. When I do, the mixer will not work with Rekordbox and the displays tell me 'Control Mode Connect'.

What does that mean and what DJ software works with the CDJ-350 if connected to a PC via USB Cable? Traktor 2.0 for example does not work with a CDJ-350 as well, having the CDJ-400 as the 'lowest ranked' mixer as compatible.

Also, when I have just a USB stick plugged into the CDJ-350 and I'm playing a track, when I go to hit 'Play/Pause', the track stops but is replaced by a harsh, chopping noise; a constant sound of a CD skipping. Now, this worries me and was wondering if anyone knew why this is occurring? Thank you.

@Trancer > The CDJ350 IS compatible with Traktor (and other DJ titles, including VirtualDJ, Ableton, etc), you simply need to load a TSI file for it instead of using the Setup Wizard.   See this page for more information and the TSI file download.

As for the "chirping", that's the original cueing method -- pre-vinyl-mode days.  It's simply a 1-frame loop allowing you to find the place you want to cue the audio.  If you don't want to hear that, press the VINYL MODE button.

But does this TSI download make the 350 compatible with Rekordbox or just Traktor 2.0?

The TSI file is for Traktor only - as far as the compatibility with rekordbox is concerned, there is no "rekordbox Link" (as is available on the CDJ2000 and CDJ900), but rather you use the software to prepare your files and export them for use with the CDJ350.

Hey,

I'm sorry, but could you elaborate on the TSI file and how to use it? I just got Traktor 2.0 and downloaded the TSI file, so what's next in getting that file to use with Traktor and inevitably my CDJ-350s?

Thank you.

You open Traktor, go to the preferences and hit the IMPORT button at the bottom - the TSI is a settings file which configures Traktor in such a way that it's pre-mapped for the buttons and jog of the 350 so it understands how to receive the communication from the player to control the software.

Hey Pulse,

I am having difficulties concerning the Traktor 2.0 software and the CDJ-350s. I have the TSI file as discussed, downloaded it and set it up as you instruceted in the preferences, but I am experiencing that only one of my CDJ-350 is controlling both decks on Traktor and only one channel through my DJM-250 is controlling the effects and well that channel of music when played. Both tracks though can be played and stopped through both of my 350s, but I can't crossfade or access my other channel on the DJM and play a mix using Traktor. Also, it seems that only my left speaker is outputting sound, when the CDJs are plugged in via USB into my computer, when digitally DJing.

Thank you.

@Trancer > It sounds like you have conflicting MIDI signals; you should try changing the MIDI channel on one of the players, but then you'll need to duplicate your entire control settings to another channel.  It's a bit complex, I'll see if I can do it on my end and export the TSI for you.

As for the sound, it's simply a matter of configuring the outputs properly.  Make sure you have the Mixer setting for EXTERNAL and that your Deck A and Deck B are both using different outputs.

@Pulse " I'll see if I can do it on my end and export the TSI for you.", did you ever get it to work? I'm still trying to unravel how to make my laptop compatible with the 350s. It is possible, but again, just through one CDJ and not both, only one channel. Also, when we resolve the mono-CDJ problem with traktor, will be no sweat to record a mix set?
