[SOLVED] Will CDJ-2000's Ever be able to read Apple Lossless m4a files.?

Hello does anyone know if a firmware update would allow my CDJ-2000's to read Apple Lossless m4a files? Where possible I like to use CD's or uncompressed (WAV) or Lossless compressed audio files that include Meta Data (Lossless M4A). I use Traktor Scratch Pro 2.5 and RekordBox and they both can read Lossless m4a but if I put the file on a data CD or SD card the deck can't play them, even over DJ Link from RekordBox it won't play. It can play compressed lossy m4a's though. Is it possible or will it never be done.? Cheers Danny.

When I first wanted to rip all my CD's I did want to use WAV's but because it cant contain metadata like album art, artist and track info, bpm, comments, and Traktor cue points and other data etc I decided not to use it. I then thought about using AIFF but to be honest don't know to much about the format except that it's uncompressed 16bit 44.1khz PCM Stereo and made by apple in 1988. As far as I know it is just apples version of WAV and cannot contain metadata. Also apparently in mac os x AIFF files are actually AIFF-C sowt files..? Not sure what that is apart from being compressed..? Where possible I want to use a Lossless, uncompressed audio files that will contain metadata that will run in Traktor Scratch Pro 2.5 and on my CDJ-2000. I did look at FLAC but my CDJ-2000's won't read them though Traktor will. So what do you suggest..? Cheers Danny.

AIFF is Apple's version of WAV, with the added benefit of holding tag data and artwork.  If you want a high-quality, uncompressed audio format which supports tags then AIFF is the one to use.

You can now purchase AIFF files with artwork and tag info attached directly from Beatport.  Artist, Title, Mix Name, Album, Record Label, Key, Year, Genre are all pre-populated and load directly into Rekordbox.

cheers for the info guys :) now I'm going to re rip all my CD's into AIFF files for use in Traktor, RekordBox, Maschine and on my CDJ-2000's. This whole time anything i could not buy on CD from a CD store i was getting from Beatport in WAV's but i have changed the option to AIFF and just download a Flux Pavilion Album in AIFF and it's perfect. :) all metadata and artwork included, now i just have to make sure Traktor can save my cue points and settings into the files now. cheers Danny.

FLAC is pretty much irrelevant here though. Pioneer still live in some sort of weird alternative universe in which lossless audio formats like FLAC and ALAC never happened.

This topic always ends up going 'round and 'round... There are no plans to introduce FLAC support. It _cannot _be done on current hardware.
