Do you know of any track in particular this error happened with? If so, could you send me the track?
Do you use Rekordbox? Are the players on the latest firmware?
I have 2 cdj2000's and recently one of the players crashed/froze in the middle of playing a track.
The player stays on but the screen turns off/dims.
There is no error warning or anything like that.
None of the buttons work.
Only way to keep going is by turning the player off and then on again.
But it will happen again and again randomly
.It does this with any track and only on one player, there is no way to tell when it will happen.
The first time it happened was months ago, but it happened only once and I thought it was a problem with the powercable.
After that first time the player has worked fine with no problems at all.
Last Saturday I had a 2 hour set and it happened 6 times.
The dj that played after me played on cd's and it happened to him as well, but only once during his one hour set.
Players are updated.
The players are not linked.
I use 32gb usb thumb drives FAT formatted.
My mp3's are all 320 CBR.
Has anyone else experienced this?
And if yes, what was done to get it working again?
Suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the reply.
Players are on the latest firmware.
It happened to many tracks, can't remember any one in particular now.
I don't use rekordbox.
When it happens again I will make sure I will note the track it happened with.
Where should I send it to?
Cheers
It may have something to do with the track artwork? I don't know if it will happen if you are not using Rekordbox but for me I do use R.B. and this kept happening to me over and over. It seems there is a bug when it comes to CDJ's loading track artwork that causes them to freeze. My issue got my attention after I performed the latest firmware upgrade. Read thru the "dustin cook" forum topic to get the whole story. If you think it might be related to your issue I would suggest removing all artwork from your files that way it will not try to load them?
I'm using "dbpoweramp" to clean up my mp3 files.
All the artwork is removed.
My mp3 files load fine, the player just freezes during playback sometimes.
I have tested the player at home for hours and it wouldn't freeze once in like 6 hours of playing.
Then I take them to play out on a gig and BINGO! It freezes every 3 to 4 songs I play.
I use the same usb flash drives on my friend's cdj400's and have never encountered any problems on his players.
The problem is it happens both with usb and cd's on my cdj2000's.
So not sure if using rekordbox would improve anything in this case.
my only thought then is that when it happens at the gig maybe it has something to do with the vibrations from the sound or people dancing and playing cd's? Since reading off of CD's is a physically moving system vibrations can come into play as you might know. Do you remember if you were playing a cd when it happened? As long as everything is hooked up the same as when your at home the performance should be the same?
Vibrations from sound or ppl dancing can not be the case.
The floor is solid concrete. And I'm doing chill out/lounge sets. No people dancing, just sitting around.
It happened with both usb and cd's btw.
I have a feeling it could be a loose wire/contact in the player.
Seems like the connection between the screen/output and the source is being lost.
I don't get an error message and the screen just turns off.
The same track that would freeze will play fine after I turn the player off, and back on.
Agreed. I didn't realize the screen blacked out. My issue has always been the button and player freezing, never a screen drop out. Also this was an issue on both of my players not just a specific unit. I think I is def hardware related and has to do with moving them around. Warranty issue for sure. Best of luck.
My problem was in the hardware.
I got both units serviced.
They found some contacts that needed cleaning and/or resoldering. It was dirt in the player that caused it I was told. Also vibrations during transport.
They both work fine now.
