Nexus issues

Hi Guys, i just got them and i forgot my girlfriend (we should meet about 1 hour ago)... I play-test them and i got some issues to report. I use external ssd drives exact as i did since now with the regular 2000. My library is exported with rekordbox and i have it re-analyzed with the new data (rekordbox 2.01), to make it work with the nexus.

nr1:

Well i got a lot of freezing here.. after testing the autoload hotque function i saw several times the player to freeze. Then i try to load another mp3, but cant do, i try to load an mp3 from linked player (who i also connect a ext. usb ssd drive), but still no luck, i have to restart the player.

nr2:

Some mp3's doesnt show up the big waveform, just the second one, at the bottom. Why is that? I repeat that my entire library (not so big, about 6k tracks) is re-analyzed with rekordbox 2.01, so it should be ok...

Do we need a new firmware maybe?

update: nr1 issue sheems to be only with usb drive, but i never had that on my 2000's (wich i still use). i got no freezing via lan (at least for 30 mins i try out).

nr2 apears even if i connect djm 2000 with the pc and use the recordbox bottun on the nexus. also via lan too.

I use lan option only at home, so it would be nice if i knew why this happens when i use usb drives...

as far as nr1: I had the same issue, loaded up all my tracks to a usb hard drive, about 120 minutes into my set I loaded a track which auto loaded hot starts and the deck flipped out making a load digital noise like it was stuck in a 1/32 loop and the deck crashed, had to reboot the whole system being that the usb was plugged into the deck that crashed and deck 2 was pulling from that drive, it was a nightmare, thank god for DJM900's loop roll effect

Yes i got default option to auto load hot cues.. I mean thats the point on the nexus.. I dont know and i dont care if they dont freeze without this option.. When the player feezes (at loading), then i try to load another track, and then the "loading" is blinking like crazy but the track dont load. I have to disconnect the usb drive to un-freeze the player. (no rebooting needed)

Brichi i got always 2 hdd's connected to the players for this case. (and a third waiting lol)

yeah, I had 2 devices connected also (which we shouldnt have to do though), I dont want to keep 2 drives (or in your case 3) all synced for gigs every weekend, its annoying especially when the main point of these $2400 decks are to be able to use 1 drive between the decks without it crashing

Agree with you Brichi but still.. as a pro, you have to be double carefull and have always a backup.. Who knows maybe the hdd dies unexpekted...

i have experienced this too. i don't think it is connected to the autoload hot cues though as i have hardly any hotcues saved in my tracks.

from my experiences, the same files crash the players each time. in my case if i change the autocue level from '1st cuepoint' to one of the 'db' setting then the file will load without crashing the deck.

have both you got '1st cuepoint' set as your autocue?

@taos - i have also had the odd track appear without the big waveform too, not many but i have seen it.

agree 100%, I have backups of backups of backups, I leave the laptop connected to LINK mode, usb drive plugged into 1 deck and an SD card in each player, unfortunately this doesnt help you when the deck that is supplying the music is the one the f's up on ya, lol

I have almost 3 hot cues on each track and on some i got cuepoints as well. I mean thats the point with the nexus right? Big new feature for me is the autoloading of hot cues, and big reason for got buying them. Also i expect this machines to run as they prommise, and i believe they do, with 1 or 2 fw updates.. I didnt noticed if the freezing was on same mp3's or not, but i know i use the same library on cdj2000 and got no freezing at all.. so..

@brichi just wait for a reply of mod's or pioneer new fw..

I'm also having freezing issues, often when using a lot of hot cues. I've also had one freeze when using reverse in slip mode. Freezing seems to happen with link and SD cards.

So i played around a few hours at home and here is a litle update about the freezing issue while loading:

It sheems that if the player does freeze, it unfreezes with this ways: disconnect link cable (when the track plays over link)

disconnect usb drive (when the track play local) or click the next track button called "track search". Then it loads up the next track but not the hot cues of it. Hot cues stay freezed, but then you got the option to go back with the jog wheel and reload the track wich freezes befor and all is ok again. Untill next feeze..

Maybe the hot cue auto load is related to that freeze. I will try whithout this option and post again.

I reply from a mod would be nice...
