Got a used cdj-900 question about jog wheel and link

Hey guys, I already had a cdj-900 which I had bought brand new and have loved. Today i got myself a used cdj-900 to add to my set and now I have a few questions. The jog wheel does not feel smooth like my other one, it feels like there is crap lodged under the platter. It works and operates with no problems, but I feel like im going to run into a problem in the near future. Is there anyway of figuring out what might be causing this problem?

Also, second question I have never used link to link a usb from one player to the other. I have connected the Cat5 cable from my cdj-900 left to my cdj-900 right and have put the USB stick into my left cdj-900 and when I press link it says connected but there is no data being transferred from my other cdj-900. Am I doing something wrong? (Also i got the control cables plugged in to the players). I know the link port works on the new and old player because I connected them both toe rekordbox and was able to send songs from rekordbox to both players, I just want to get rid of the laptop completely and use a USB stick..

When you connect to RB that same set up should allow you to share one USB stick between the two decks. I'm not sure what you mean by control cables?

The the connection of the LAN cable in to the ports on the CDJ can be loose sometimes. As for the Jog wheel, forum rules means I can't really offer you any advice. The other thing is find a local Pioneer service centre

Yeah that might of been the case with the link. I have been on youtube, but cant seem to find a similar issue. I wanna call up a pioneer service center but I feel like their gonna try to rip me off by telling me i need to replace this and that (like you would hear at a mechanic shop for your car).

It could be a simple build up of dirt. When I got mine (new) there was a difference in the feel and sound but now they seem to be settled and fine now. I did have a dodgy loop button but the jog wheel video helped me solve it. down to the service centre and some time without your CDJ

Yeah im pretty sure its more than just dirt.. alright well i dont wanna get us warned by the mods for discussing something were not suppose to.. ill just see what videos i can find if no luck ill call up a pioneer repair center..

@Arman > From your original post I see you bought a used CDJ - therefore it could be possible the person that sold it to you had previously damaged it. I would advise to get in touch with an Authorised Service Centre - you can find the support contacts on the right of this page >>

@Arman, the platter problem may be caused by the platter guide wheels. You can buy them here:-

The most common cause of these breaking (that i know of) is Dj's using the decks as tables and placing/dropping heavy CD wallets (those big uns that hold about 500).

Finding the parts can be difficult. After 3 months I finally found the company above ....
