CDJ2000 NEXUS FREEZING ISSUE

Hi all, 

 

sorry another bug to report using CDJ2000 Nexus and RB2.0.1. When using the decks via the pro dj link if I let the track play out on deck A after transitioning a track into deck B when I go back to RB to put a new track into deck A the CDJ shows now loading but nothing happens other than sometimes I get a waiting disk appear on the screen. To be clear the same issue occurs when in the reverse scenario, i.e. adding new record onto deck B once the previous has been left to run out. 

The issue doesn't happen when you it cue to end the record finishing. The only way to resolve this is by switching the CDJ off then back on which is very annoying.

 

Anyone else encountered this ?

woaw, ive just spent half an hour reading through this thread,   this is an absolute disgrace!   i have my 2000's mk1 for sale and was planning to get the nexus in a few weeks, but there is NO WAY i will be buying them until this is sorted out, this is unacceptable, i dont know who's in charge at pioneer or how they run things but rival companys must  be rubbing there hands with glee when they read posts on here,  think of the millions of pounds pioneer spend on advertising and product placement and paying top end dj's to use they're equipment, promo videos, free givaways, all around the world, the cost must be astronomical!!! and to waste all that time money and effort by releasing a product as bad as this one, in fact its not only this one, It's EVERY single product they bring out is an absolute disaster,  no other company in the entire world releases products that have the amount of problems pioneer have, in fact i would go so far as to say it's ILLEGAL and against the law, to do business this way, here in the uk we have something called ''TRADING STANDARDS ASSOCIATION ''  who have absolute power over any company no matter how big they think they are, they can impose huge fines and if needed, and  stop the company from trading in the entire united kingdom,  while i would never wish for this to happen, pioneer need to stop treating customers the way they do, it is simply unacceptable to sell defective products, and goes without saying.....

you would think with all the problems pioneer has had they would of made 110% sure they got it right with the nexus, i dont know if they need to sack people, new management, new development team or what will sort it, but it can be sorted, NONE of its rivals have anywhere near the amount of problems pioneer have, 6 months ago i was very patient about problems, and i would defend pioneer, but after an issue with a defective RMX, and a so called ''FLAGSHIP'' djm 2000, ive had enough, theres no excuse for these type of problems with top end dj gear, i mean, why not spend half a million less on advertising and use the money to iron out the problem before the decks where released??  it would actually save the company money in the long run, all the advertising just goes to waste if people have nothing good to say about the product !

how much longer will this go on for? will every product get worse? will every update create more problems than it fixes? will more people be unhappy? will all the older gear go unsupported because engineers are working on bug fixes for new stuff?

 

oh, and one more thing i want to add, this so called bug fix coming out tomorrow will be interesting indeed, pioneer have spent years working on these decks and cant get it right,  do you think they can fix everything with an update they've only had a few weeks to work on? or will it yet again cause more problems........

well, i hope so, because i want new decks in time for christmas, but  i aslo want new decks that work in time for christmas....

I am also really disappointed with all the issues regarding pioneer products last three years.. I really hope the new firmware for the nexus will fix the issues and I also hope they will come up with a new rekordbox version and djm 2000 update

Very well said aaron elliott.

I hate to admit it but I have lost faith in Pioneer and I have bought all their top products for over 12 years now.

I'm certainly not getting my hopes up on this Nexus update fixing all the problems as I've been let down in the past.

I haven't really bothered using the Nexus decks and have gone back to Traktor which has been totally hassle free and great fun! (now this is how sync should work).

I have never bothered posting about wanting a new firmware update for my DJM 2000 as I saw that many threads get closed by the mods there was just no point. Instead I am now looking at selling my DJM 2000 and jumping ship to a company that looks after their customers with fantastic (ongoing) firmware updates.

If these Nexus decks are not sorted quickly (I will not wait a year and a half) via a firmware update then they will be the next to go - along with the RMX 1000.

If the firmware update doesn't solve the issues you can always throw them in the hurricane :)

"@Painless Wolf are you using autoload option too? I guess yes, its a major reason i buy this decks.. So you got any errors whith freezing? I will wait to your feedback after the 4 gigs u say! Good luck with the syncuser! lol"

@tasos Not sure what autoload it, mind explianing it to me?  My gigs (friday and saturday) went really well.  I did not use my laptop...only used my hard drive that was connected to 1 of my CDJ2knxs.

I had a great run, no crash on either events so I guess I've got the good batch of cdjs???

It was fun but search def takes time (instead of keyboard) so my plan is to maybe have my music loaded on the cloud and when someone use my ipad or android tablet, they can search my library...so for anything not available i can buy it on iTunes.

So far the google music appl unfortunately stores the actually music files in the android sub roots and not in the media.  Rekordbox cannot find it and the songs are numbered..kinda stupid but w/e.

My other options will be to look at the iTunes match and simply let my clients select music maybe an iPad mini on my music stored on the cloud connected to my phone's to get internet connection and once downloaded, I can connect to my apple wifi (the $99 one) thats connected to my netgear switch and dump the track on my cdjs.

That will work. problem?  I have 28k songs, itunes match is bugging..it differs from users to users...

I may give it a test and just drop some songs out of itunes so I can try it and see.

Seems like Update is out! Very excited. Does not know anything if they have corrected the freezing problems, and all the rest. Really hope they read everything that is written here (From what underneath, it seems there is a lot they have not fixed...) We can not accept that there is so much wrong with such an expensive and new player! 

Think they should have released more info about all the problems and what they intend to do, and why this has happened. Hope someone from Pioneer soon can post here, what to do with all the problems, and what specifically is being done.

Ver.1.04 (29 Octorber, 2012 Update)

- The key icon indicating the "Traffic Light System" has changed from blue to green signalling which tracks will harmonically mix.

- "Hot Cue/Loop" lengths are displayed until complete before a new "Hot Cue/Loop" is engaged.

- Issue fixed where the BPM may fluctuate during playback using "Sync".

- Issue fixed related to the tempo of a track with "Slip Mode" engaged.

To all the nexus users, I hope this update will sort all the problems you have with your new players. 

@aaron elliott, well said man. I 100% agree with you.

@Lee, I also agree with you all the way about pioneer mixers. I used to own djm400 a few years ago and that was the only pioneer mixer I ever got. For me if you like analogue you should go for Allen and Heath Xone92 or if you prefer digital go for XoneDB4 or DB2.

@BriChi, I heard about the hurricane on TV. I hope everything is fine over there.

Hey Dream Treez, i hope they did more under the hood then they said in the change list.. it would be really cool if pioneer played open cards with us. Some DJ companies do and its very pleasant and human. they should really put more effort into firmware and software development to remain their industry standard status

@f!rmwar3, that is true what you say above. In order to see what is been done in the new firmware you need to update your players. I also hope they did more than what pioneer says in the change list. At the end of the day it is not fair for ppl who got the new players not to be able to use them. Pioneer should put more effort to release firmwares that actually will work. Same thing was happening when cdj2000 was released. I ve got a feeling that this time, with the new nexus player it is even worse than it used to be with the cdj2000mk1. I hope I am wrong, it is just a feeling.

Had the same problem myself last payer froze at the end of a gig last night,  lucky it was the last track but was left pretty red faced in front of a 1000 people

@Dream Treez - You hit the nail right on the head - That is the digital mixer I'm looking at.

I too hope this update fixes more than they have listed!

I haven't time at the moment to try it but I'm sure BriChi will be the first to let us know :)

@Lee, I own an Xone92 and I can tell for sure that this is the best mixer I have ever touched. I have also played once with DB4 and it is absolutely amazing. I just hope I have the chance in future to play more with it. If I was gonna buy a mixer now, I would go for Xone DB4 for sure.

Other than that, I am also curious to see feedback about new firmware for nexus cdj. I just hope everything is sorted cause I can understand how ppl feel about it.

so here, I was playing with hot starts that i manually loaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESDvfZBYrnI

  1. right off the bat in the video you can see the hot starts causing some loud digital noise then the deck freaks out fast forwarding and rewinding all over

  2. at 15 seconds the song jumps

  3. at 20 seconds the deck jumps to entirely different track without me touching anything

  4. at 35 seconds I hit a hot start and track jumps to end

  5. at 50 seconds I am hitting "A" which is the first beat of the song but its playing at about 15 seconds into song while pressing it where the hot start is NOT loaded

this update is useless for me I am very very sad to say

I gotta be honest. These are my first ever pioneer products and i'm about to put them on eBay, and swear to never purchase another pioneer Dj product. A firmware update on players that are so expensive and unusable in their current state, and they worry about changing the color of the traffic light. This insult to injury.

Oh man, these videos are killing me. I wanna ask if you forget the hot cues, is the player able to play a track for start to finish with now problems and mix to another track in other player?? I mean no hot cues. Just Cue and Play.

@brichi. Mine just freeze every now and again, and deletes files from an SD card but I'm unable to reproduce your same issues. Really sad to see those videos.

@ Dream, I havent had any shot of just loading tracks without hot starts, any time I use the decks I am on hot starts and cues a lot and they freak out. to just mix one track after another with no cues/hot starts would be almost impossible, lol.

Let me ask this again.. If you put a usb with a playlist of 20 tracks in one nexus player with no auto cue enabled and press play, will the player play all 20 tracks with no problem ??

all I mean is manually cue from your player instead of using RB to store your cues. Is it different or the player reacts the same ??

well right now my next test is avoiding RB all together, I will take some tracks raw and drag them to a flash drive, then on the Nexus' I will created hot starts and mess around and see what results I get.

That is what I am talking about. Do that to make the comparison and see if RB is the one who creates the problem. Give it a go with a USB that you just copied a few tracks in it without using RB and also try using the RB but export the tracks with no hot cues saved in it. Then save your cues manually by using the player. I am really interested for your feedback.

ok, so dragged 50 tracks to a completely formatted usb drive, set 3 hot starts and it still locked the deck up, at first about 3 seconds in the audio just cut out quick as you can hear in video and then the track completely locks up

sorry to say guys that I know some of you like that I test this stuff and find these bugs too and check new FW releases immediately and report back, But I am returning these decks, right now Long Island is being hit with a hurricane between today and tomorrow, but once the stores open up they are going back and I have to buy a different model deck

ok, so switched to another deck, same track, never touched RB, loaded the hot starts and when banging away on them I get this error, loud annoying sound (sorry, may wanna keep speakers low), and I cant load anything, have to reboot track

@Dream Treez - That's great to hear that you rate the Xone DB4 as that's the one I'm looking at.

@BriChi - This is gutting mate! In all honesty, I didn't think the problems would be solved.

I really don't know what to say as it looks like I'm in the same situation as you. I will try the update later but I do not think it will solve the problems.

Even if we are past our return date we should have a right to at least exchange them for something else as they DO NOT work as advertised.
