CDJ2000 NEXUS FREEZING ISSUE

Hi all,

sorry another bug to report using CDJ2000 Nexus and RB2.0.1. When using the decks via the pro dj link if I let the track play out on deck A after transitioning a track into deck B when I go back to RB to put a new track into deck A the CDJ shows now loading but nothing happens other than sometimes I get a waiting disk appear on the screen. To be clear the same issue occurs when in the reverse scenario, i.e. adding new record onto deck B once the previous has been left to run out.

The issue doesn't happen when you it cue to end the record finishing. The only way to resolve this is by switching the CDJ off then back on which is very annoying.

Anyone else encountered this ?

FIASCO would be a better name than NEXUS.

Sorry for this 'bad spirit' but I am shocked to see things happen again and again (2000 mk1).

I'll never buy Pioneer hardware anymore.

Just had another play with my new Nexus investments and i had to power off deck 1 EVERY TIME due to the deck freezing every time i added a track from Rekordbox.

It had seemingly improved when i stopped using my airport extreme router in place of ethernet hub, however tonight useless this despite wifi being switched off. What is this all about - it always seem to be player 1 that freezes - could this be a hardware issue???

Pioneer - please give us your thoughts ?

@BriChi, I heard about the hurricane on TV. I hope everything is fine over there.

thank you Dream T, My house is ok, a little bit of damage and a day without power but thats nothing compared to what other people are dealing with on the island. The big problem now is getting gas

and to answer "To all the nexus users, I hope this update will sort all the problems you have with your new players. "

nope, didnt do a damn thing for all the freezing issues we are having, The 1.04 fw is a useless update and adds no stability at all,  my decks are still useless, wrapped up and going back if my local GC ever gets power and re-opens

Just had another session on the Nexus and once again I was massively disappointed... This time the second deck froze after adding a new track onto the player EVERY TIME coupled with the first deck suddenly going into emergency loop. How can you honestly play out with these ???

These decks are totally unusable Pioneer - do I need to speak to Technical support or are we being listened to and can someone give us some assurance that the problems have been recognised and that something is being done to address. I've not sold my 2000MK1's yet and I may not end up doing so instead taking the view of abandoning the Nexus and returning them as they do not simply work as advertised.

This is totally unacceptable !!

Brichi - have you returned yours yet ? I might do the same now as i've lost all enjoyment given something could go wrong at any minute

If I find a way to get the mk1's back without losing money in the transaction, they are going back. I sold the MK1's to buy the Nexus', So if I return the Nexus' for a full refund and then re-buy the 2000mk1's for more then what I sold them for, I am out money WHICH IS NOT FAIR PIONEER!!!!!!!!!!!

As I'm sure many of you have seen in other threads, the engineers have been able to identify and rectify different issues in a firmware update that should become available to you soon.

Hi Guys

Bought my son CDj 900's when they were first launched back in 09 and have not had any major issues with them. This year as a Xmas present we bought the new 2000 nexus.
My son got them out to try them, put in his usb and within half an hour one of the decks completely froze and was unresponsive. Switched them off and on and it did it again.
Needless to say they were packaged up and sent right back to the supplier, my son is gutted though as they looked great pieces of kit (if they worked properly).
Does anyone know if pioneer intend to sort out this major issue or just hope that people just buy the machines anyway?

update coming December 3rd, you are not alone, lets hope this update fixes the freezing issues, if not, you will read on the forum, trust me..

From Pioneer

Dear CDJ-2000nexus customers,

Pioneer have identified a number of firmware modifications required to the new CDJ-2000nexus and are now working on an important firmware update that will be made available to you from 3rd December 2012 via  www.pioneerdj.com/support

This update will address important bug fixes required.  Pioneer sincerely apologies to any customers who may have experienced any operational issues to date with the new CDJ-2000nexus.  Pioneer are committed to continuous improvement for our flagship multiplayer and will give priority to any further future updates to enhance the CDJ-2000nexus performance.  We very much appreciate your patience.

Pleases note that this does not affect existing CDJ-2000 customers.

Big Al - I'm sorry to hear that story. It really is a shame that Pioneer have let your son (and many others down).

I too have been frustrated after buying the nexus decks and experience freezing + many more bugs. We are told that a firmware update is on it's way but I do not expect great things from Pioneer anymore.

I hope I am proven wrong by the upcoming update.

BriChi - Thanks for that.

Leee - hopefully pioneer get the firmware update spot on as its a shame, as these machines in theory are pretty awesome .
Think I will hold off from buying another pair and see what the feedback is on the new update

sorry to hear of your troubles big al, its a pity you didnt find out about the issues before you spent so much money and frustration, tho my feelings are that this update is again rushed and wont really get to the route of the problem, just for example , people have been waiting for years for bug fixes for other products in the pioneer range that have never surfaced and i think this update will be more of the same unfortunatley :/  there is somthing really wrong at pioneers core atm and i can only hope it will be fixed sooner rather than later, as for me, i had my 2000'mks for sale and was planning to get the nexus version for christmas but ive taken them down from the site and decided to keep them for now, until i know for sure everything is fixed with the 2000 nexus, instead , for now and temporally, im buying a controller ( cant post the name here)  which cost £150 , and offers me a free programme which is more stable and has more effects and more possibilities that the nexus/rekordbox 2.0*** version,  i just hope pioneer can fix this properly for once, because i talk to  lot of dj's online and amongst friends aswell,    the word on the street is that pioneer have went down hill bigtime  , mainly firmware, but also build quality aswell,    build quality isnt something thats mentioned on this site very of then, but for example try jiggling a gain/mid/treble/bass knob on the pioneer 2000 mixer and see how much play there is in it,   something that doesn't happen in even low end mixers nowadays....  and is something that definately needs addressed,     other connections have problems aswell, apparently the cdj 2000 nexus have fixed the lan connection but i havnt tried them out yet to be sure, ive had connection problems with the 2000 mk1's :/

i know pulse wont be happy with this post but there is some valid issues that need addressed, and pioneer management should take note that they have messed up big time recently, and need to release products that work ( cant believe i had to type that)  in the meantime ill keep an eye on this forum, and once i read good reports, i'll spend my money....

aaron Elliot - thankfully we only had the nexus for a day so the supplier had no option to take them back.

My son too had his 900's advertised and will now delete the advert.
We also have the djm 900 nexus mixer and as you say the usb connection port on it is pretty loose when cable is connected, not something you would expect from pioneer.

Another gripe i have is that people are saying the new nexus are something super duper totally fantastic, and  nothing the dj world has never seen or heard off.....  eh no guys, in fact if you read the spec's , these decks dont offer anything new at all that is not already on the market ( i had a rival vinyl emulatoin cd deck 10 years ago that offered slip mode + i could mix 2 songs from one cd in one deck in the same unit, all onboard)   you need to think of these decks as exactly the same as other mp3/usb all in one controllers except that they come in 3 separate pieces,  they are exactly the same apart from the usb/lan cable that connects them  ( all in one units do this internally)       so they arnt actually doing anything that is pushing the boundries so far as to expect this amount of failures, other pioneer products manage it just fine (DDTS1, DDJT1, DDJ aero, and the new unit of which i cant remember the name... )   give or take a few added feature/effects  the principle is exactly the same, so my question is,

WHAT CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT HAS WENT WRONG IN THE PIONEER PRO RANGE???

Well, besides the fact that CDJ2000 NEXUS decks turned out to be a very "BAD EXPERIENCE" during several DJ events; the most unacceptable Pioneer move was to NOT support SERATO SL and to DENY DENY DENY and say that they have nothing to do with it and instead point the FAT finger at the SERATO team.

I was LUCKY enough to be able to RETURN these CDJ2000 NEXUS PAPER WEIGHTS.  My local dealer could not believe the fact that out of the 26 CDJ2000 Nexus that he has sold, 20 have been returned (Including mine).

When he said that, I was not surprised to hear it and explained to him the ongoing issues that many of us have encountered during live sets.

I went ahead and bought a new set of CDJ2000s (NO NEXUS BullSh!t.)  YES the past 4 DJ events have been a breeze and I was able to go back and use SERATO SL.

CDJ2000 NEXUS "BETA" TESTERS DO YOURSELVES A FAVOR and try to get back to your CDJ2000s (Gen. 1) - Your will have stress free events and will certainly shine in front of the crowd.

Peace!!! and may the force be with you all!!!

I agree, I used the 2000mk1's on 2 events today, total of 8 hours of stress free dj'ing, If the december 3rd update does not fix ll my issues, they are going back

Hi,

Firstly, I use a desktop switch to link the CDJ 2000 Nexus decks to my DJM 900 Nexus and my laptop running Rekordbox. I also just run the decks off an SD if I can't be bothered getting the laptop :-)

I've just joined to share some similar problems and I hope that Pioneer find my experiences useful in finding and sorting out the issues. I have to say that I feel for you guys. Some of you are experiencing much worse problems than me :-(

The first issue I've come across is certain tracks kill the deck - not a total crash as I can just swich source and it comes back to life. However, the same track from a different source (SD) will also crash the deck, so I assume it's a corrupt track or has been corrupted by rekordbox. I've also noticed that before the dodgy tracks go belly up, the Hotcues are all over the place - definitely not where I set them, lending weight to my assumption that it's a data issue and my money is on how Rekordbox analyses the imported tracks. Interestingly, the tracks seemed fine at first... I can't recall if the issues manifested themselves after I set the Hotcues...

I've also had a very occasional issue with the network going offline and both decks going into emergency loop.

The last problem (so far :-)) I've come across is if I power the decks on first THEN the mixer, after a short time playing, the left deck sends a power spike through the right master channel nearly sending my monitors into orbit and giving me a heart attack. It keeps doing this until I power everything down and restart with the mixer first, then the decks. Not a major issue if you remember, but you shouldn't have to.

As an aside, I'm a software developer and I understand only too well that something you think is rock solid will most likely have some teething issues when it first goes out. I expected a few issues to be honest and was a price I expected to pay when I got the first iteration of the CDJs.

I hope this is helpful and you guys get your issues sorted with the next firmware update on the 3rd of December ;-)

similar to what is happening in this thread? Maybe you are onto a troubleshooting step to figure out what the cause is?
