CD's Skipping

Hi,

I have been DJing on Pioneer CDJS for quite sometime now. CDJ2000's are becoming more and more common now in clubs. I always stuck by and sweared by the CDJ1000Mk3 I have 3 of them and want to start converting over to CDJ2000 Nexus's. However I have noticed a common problem with the CDJ2000's is that the lasers are no where near as strong or sturdy as the CDJ1000's. My CD's are fresh and clean, but why does this skipping problem occur on the on the CDJ2000's its like mixing on vinyl again! Is this problem fixed on the NEXUS models? I also I DJ in a duo is there an easy and more simplified solution to play on CDJ2000's with USB's when DJing in a duo or do you have to chuck two folders of tunes on the stick. Does the CDJ2000 Nexus have a more reliable and sturdy laser? A light knock on the desk causes 2000's to skip 1000's never suffered that problem. Its like a regression in away I stopped using turntables because of problems like skipping and dirty needles now its starting to re occur again. It shouldn't be this annyoying to use CD-R's

you can use usb sticks as you use your cd's. the skipping part was fixed with an update although to be honest i still feel there is some drifting happening form time to time (i am not sure though if  this due to a bad track or the players..). I think in terms of general stability and performance the mk3s were the best i miss them.

@Reece > Welcome to the forums. In terms of the players addressing any skipping, there was some slight instances that were corrected by means of firmware updates. However, it still is possible that there may be skips but this would be down to the environment where the CDJs are placed - e.g. the bass bin being right below the DJ booth for example (this is very RARE however).

I feel that if you are moving to these new CDJs you are probably moving away from CDs. If partnering with another DJ, you have some options available to you - 1 DJ can continue to use CDs and the other SD or USB / both can use USB sticks or you can both connect your laptops and use rekordbox over link (a great feature on the DJM2000).

We have ticketed the reported drifting but so far this has only been documented in very few cases.
