CDJ 2000 & DJM 900 NEXUS VOLUME AND EQ'S

Hi,

I have recently upgraded to 3x CDJ2000's  Im using the USB and LINK Functions, Im using a LAN Switch box to network the 3x CDJs They have the latest firmware updates on them. I also running a DJM900 Nexus Mixer. What I have noticed is that when your chopping and chaning between tracks the volume levels just randomly spike? Its got nothing to do with the tunes as I am running them I CDJ version and they play fine. Its real awkward sometimes you switch the bass off on one channel and it will start spiking up into the red which shouldnt be the case. Also when you cut between tracks and do Bass switches the volume levels just spike up randomly when they shouldn't. Solution guys?

im not a fan of anything in the pathway of my signal - to have the most robust you can have will be using just the digital coax, any additional connectors has the potential to add resistance to the overall cable system...

the main issue is with the length of cable and its quality, we are using fairly short lengths in our flight cases so that helps, if you had preferred the right angled connectors i would have gone with this as the connector on my cable as fitted at manufacture...

if you must use those connectors try get the best cost / performance ratio that you are comfortable with.

being a digital signal, you will soon notice any issues using the connector is in place... it with either work or it wont! :)

thanks Matt, i agree 100 with ya, I hate anything in the way of a straight connection, I wasnt thinking when i ordered those, thankfully they were cheap, Ill most likely keep these on hand being I build and assemble a lot of these cases for other dj's so I know they won't go to waste. I will search for right angled digital, thank you

@Brian > I'd be interested to hear could you notice any discernible difference between using them and not using them (likely not, of course).

not at all Gavin, But havent been on a big system yet, This weekend i will be on one, Ill leave one as regular rca and one as digital, I doubt there will be a sound difference though. Like Matt had said, i think it's just more for a more "stable" transfer of audio

considering the quality of 320k mp3 or wavs debate - theres probably little difference you would hear... most of us dj types are partially deaf in the best scenario lol

my comments above relate to more high end hifi speak than brash nightclub sound systems... however, ive done the analogue / digital test and i couldnt tell the difference - this was using a 20kW kv2 es system and a line array rcf tt+ system (was bloody big system 10kW+)... and i couldnt really tell the left form the right deck... so i could play simultaneously! one with rca the other on coax... so i then played some classical! lol

Speak for yourself! I recently had my ears tested and my results were (and I quote) "frankly remarkable". I do have ultra sensitive hearing but as a downside of that usually comes tinnitus.

Thanks for the responses guys. I have purchased the Digital Cables and better quality RCA cables. However im still having the same issues, there are now even cases of the bass being cut out completely during the mix and the bass volume knob is at 12oclock. This problem is only occuring when I play on USB or playing on them Networked and not on CD. Could it be my mixer is faulty?

@Reece > Does it happen with random tracks - are you sure its not them? Could it be the speakers are faulty?

@Gavin> It happens intermittently not necessarily the same group of tunes. The speakers are fine. The problem dosn't happen with CD versions of the tunes!

Could this be a Rekord Box problem?

@Reece > Can you send me one of the tracks it happens with and I'll test on my end?
