Feature request: Allow mixer to control CDJ-2000 jog wheel color when using Advanced HID

When using Pioneer DJM-900 Nexus mixer and CDJ-2000s using MP3s on USB sticks or audio CDs the DJM-900NXS mixer controls the CDJ jog wheel color properly, for example when the CDJ channel is open on the DJM mixer the "on-air" jog wheel color of matching CDJ2000 will turn to red. All good and nice here.

But when you use CDJ2000 in Advanced HID mode with Traktor Pro, the jog wheel color does NOT change to red when the channel is open.. I assume this is a missing feature in the CDJ2000 firmware. So I'd like to request adding this feature to the firmware: allow DJM mixer to control the CDJ2000 jog wheel color also when the CDJ is in the HID mode.

Apparently a recent firmware update meant that only connectivity with Pioneer mixers can use the red LED jog light.

Would have been better to let us get the feature through the setup on the CDJ 2ks so even us DJM 800 drivers, could use it if we wanted.

Happy new year!

I'm pretty sure it can't be done Martin as the data is transmitted via the Ethernet connection which the djm800 doesn't have unfortunately.

Serato uses have been asking for jog wheel colors to change for yrs now. And it didn't happen. So don't hold your breath for Traktor. Seeing that Traktor HID was just given as a last gift from Pioneer Before the CDJ Nexus came out. Which was something they didnt have to do. I can tell you that I have a whole Nexus setup and don't even realize the red platters. I'm looking at my mixer and faders to know what deck is on and playing. I'm an old school dj so while it's a "COOL" feature. It's not needed, and when ur in the heat of the mix, and rocking the crowd. You don't even notice the red or the white lights.... Well I don't anyway.

This is unlikely to happen - it is a Pioneer ProDJ Link feature only.

@Gavin: But that's what I'm asking :) I want the DJM-900 Nexus mixer be able to control the CDJ2000 jog wheel color using the ProDJ Link even when the CDJ is in HID mode!

I was thinking more about this feature request.. let me describe my setup:

  • Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus mixer, ProDJ Link to CDJ-2000 decks.

  • 2x Pioneer CDJ-2000 decks, in Advanced HID mode.

  • Traktor Pro in External Mixing mode, using DJM-900 as the audio interface.

All the mixing happens on the DJM-900 mixer. When you open a channel fader on the DJM-900 mixer, that's when the CDJ-2000 deck goes "live".

Suggestion: Add a new option to CDJ-2000 firmware settings: "Enable ProDJ Link jog color changes when in HID mode", disabled as a default, so the current behaviour stays the same. Users who want the jog color control in Advanced HID mode could enable that option, and when enabled, DJM-900 mixer would be able to control the CDJ2000 jog wheel color using the ProDJ Link, just like it does in the CDJ-2000 normal mode.

Traktor or Advanced HID  isn't able to control the CDJ2000  jog wheel color anyway, so why disable DJM-900 jog wheel color control?
