[SOLVED] 2000nexus- sync question

Hi all,

I tried using the sync feature on the new nexus cdj2000s with my usbs(analyzed through rekordbox). It works about 75% of the time. Sometimes it fights with the BPM however. For example, if a track changes tempo midway through , it speeds or slows it , and even when the regular 128bpm kicks back it, it will be slow motion tempo .. I have tried turning the sync button off before the tempo change or breakdown and turning it on again when it kicks in but it doesn't work.

Does this have to do with normal or dynamic analysis mode in rekordbox? Also, how do you choose which of these? I have had it on dynamic thus far because I sometimes drop music with drastic tempo change. My sets are 99.9% of the time around 126-128bpm prog/electro house with the occasional trap/dub thrown in.

I have also noticed that song tracks do not start right on the first beat when I press play on the new cdj nexus. There is sometimes a delay. This delay does not occur when the SYNC button is off.

I figure these issues has something to do with rekordbox analysis? How can I fix my settings?

Thank you so much.

hi eva. you should only use dynamic on specific tracks that have an inconsistent bpm (vinyl rips, old disco tracks with real drummers etc) everything else should be analysed as 'normal'. this will fix your problem.

the delay is normal if you have quantise switched on. quantise will snap the play button to the nearest beat when sync is also on, if you're a bit early then you'll hear a very slight delay.

Hi Phil

So I have to reanalyze every track with normal mode selected? Do I need to remove everything from rekordbox and readd?

How do I only analyze specific tracks with rekordbox? For example, i have a mashup that is 128 and then half way through the song goes into a half tempo trap edit. Right now, it has been analyzed using dynamic. Perhaps I just need everything to be on normal mode?

Also, any idea why you can't turn sync off and on at will? Seems to stick on.

Thanks so much for your help

not necessarily. just tracks you know that have a constant bpm (most stuff bought from beatport, traxsource etc) which i guess is most of your collection. your mashup could be ok to analyse as normal too, providing the beat is constant.

not sure about your sync issue, i don't really use it....

How do I change the first beat of a track? Rekordbox auto detect is usually correct but sometimes it is off and thinks the first beat is way before so I end up playing catch up with the jog wheel even when I hit play at the right time.

You need to change your beatgrid in RB.

You select your track and on the righthand side of your waveform you see a small triangle. Push this button and you open the tool for adjusting the Beatgrip.

On the lefthand side of the waveform you can use a zoom function.

Forgot to say this. If you're beatgrid is correct you will have no probs with using the sync function.

@Eva > As Phil has already pointed out, you should use Dynamic analysis on tracks that have been produced in a live environment / do not have a consistent BPM. For consistent BPM tracks you should use Normal Analysis.

The reason sync may not be working correct for you is that you do not have your beat grids / markers lined up correctly in rekordbox and the analysis may be slightly off - causing a discrepancy in the sync. To rectify the problem, simply edit your tracks to line up the beat grids.
