[CLOSED] cdj-2000 skipping on USB/pro dj link mode?

Hey,

I have a pair of CDJ-2000s that haven't been updated since pre the Oct. update (everything i've read about that has sounded sketchy and i'm not terribly interested in compromising their stability) but I've started to experience skipping for some reason when i'm not even playing from CDs - skipping isn't really the right word, it seems more like jumping forward a random amount unpredictably.

At first I thought that this was just occasional crappy MP3s from beatport, but I've started to notice that it's consistently my channel 1 CDJ that's doing it. I don't know if it's just coincidence, as the problem is fairly infrequent, and I can't reliably reproduce it or figure out the conditions, but I've had definite experiences now where I've been recording a mix show and can listen back after the fact and confirm that it wasn't just me bumping something - the track randomly jumps forward an unpredictable amount.

Has anyone experienced this? Could it be a faulty unit? Is there any explanation for this behavior?

Thanks in advance.

I ve had a similar problem once. What is the source you are using to play? I use USB stick and sometime ago I used to add/export more tracks in current playlists in USB stick using RB without re-formating the USB. That caused some bad data in USB which made some tracks to jump in the middle of another track. I formated the USB and export all the tracks again using RB. That fixed the issue. Since then, everytime I wanna change my playlists, I format the USB and export again. Hope it helps.. Good luck.

Don't want to be rude but I feel a little disappointed I haven't even had an acknowledgement from the pioneerdj staff - even a simple "we've never heard of this before" would be great. I've spent something like $8,000 on this kit, I'm snagging an RMX-1000 in the near future, I'd consider myself a pretty loyal customer and I feel as if I've always been very considerate and polite here - it would just be nice to hear some official response seeing as there's no number I can call to speak to a tech (that I'm aware of.) I want to know if there's ever been an issue like this reported, or if it would be worth finding a service center to look at it (and potentially be without the hardware/miss commitments)

@jean luc > I apologise about the delay - you have been a very valuable customer and always polite - we appreciate that, thank you.

As for your issue, I don't think I've come across it exactly before. First off, there is NO issues with the CDJ-2000 in relation to 'bugs'. 4.20 is very stable, if you take a look through the forums you will see positive feedback about it.

Secondly, I would like to ask you to update rekordbox to 2.0.3

Thirdly, can you tell us about your setup? Are you connecting a mixer, CDJs and a laptop all through Pro DJ Link? If you are using a network switch / router what make and model is it?

Thank you for the reply; I don't mean to be rude, it was just frustrating to me.

I did update to RekordBox 2.0.3, and the CDJs are connected over pro DJ link through the switch in the back of the DJM-2000. The issue happens whether I'm on Pro DJ link or USB, doesn't matter whether it's on the device with the USB stick in it or reading from it over pro-DJ link.

It happens SUPER infrequently. I'd say less than once every week/two weeks of my usual playing, but it happens consistently on the same deck. In some cases, I can reproduce it with the same MP3 file (though admittedly I initially wrote this off as just bad files) and sometimes it happens once, randomly, and never again. It's just infrequent enough that i'm never paying attention to specific configuration when it happens (or the state of my kit) but it happens enough that it's become a bit of an issue.

It's a really frustrating problem. If it was something that happened a lot, I'd know something was wrong with the deck for certain. It's happening just infrequently enough that I can't just write off the deck mentally yet though.

@ Jean luc

Have you tried the same files on different medias, like USB, SDcard without PDJ?

Cheers

@jean luc > Thank you for your response. As Martin has asked, have you tried those tracks on different media and on different players? Was the result the same?

Have you also checked if the mp3's having the issue are VBR vs CBR.... The 2000's do a poor job handling VBR files, I have had issues with them like this in the past and converted them all to CBR
